Based on the popular and highly-acclaimed underground comic book by Daniel Clowes, 'Ghost World' is a raw-edged comedy about two teenage girls, Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebecca (Scarlett Johansson), who are out of sync with the world around them. Their uncensored commentary spares no one as they try to find a place for themselves in a modern America of endless strip malls and fast-food chains. After graduating from high school, they face an unpleasant immediate future: crappy jobs and slim prospects for romance. While Rebecca gets a job at the local coffee franchise and starts saving for the apartment they always planned on, Enid becomes involved with an alienated malcontent named Seymour (Steve Buscemi). As they edge toward the unfathomable mystery of adulthood in a world in decline, Enid and Rebecca struggle to maintain their identity and the bonds that kept them sane.

This movie will make you smile, laugh and bring tears to your eyes. Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansson portray their characters to perfection. And Seymour the collector has to be one of the most loveable characters of all time!
I only bought it a couple of weeks ago and have already watched it five times since....really can't praise it highly enough.
Such A Cult Classic!

I love this movie so much! Quirky and cool just doesn't even begin to describe it!
Thora & Scarlett are absolutely brilliant as the 2 very unique lead characters!
I saw this ages ago & am now the proud owner of the DVD! A must see for all fans of movies like me that are just the little bit different and somewhat out-of-this-world!
Can you say cult classic

Een angst movie at its best with great performances from all involved. I really wanted to be like enid(but that passed), sharply written script with some really funny and witty dialogue you'll be quoting for days. This movie represents all of us who've been called a loser, nerd , freak , outcast. Rejoice in this film we're finally accepted huh or are we ?
