Master filmmaker Sidney Lumet directs this absorbing suspense thriller about a family facing the worst enemy of all - itself.

Andy (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is an overextended broker who lures his younger brother, Hank (Ethan Hawke) into a larcenous scheme: the pair will rob a suburban mum-and-dad jewelry store that appears to be the quintessential easy target. The problem is, the store owners are Andy and Hank's actual mum and dad and, when the seemingly perfect crime goes awry, the damage lands right at their doorstep.

Really enjoyed this twisty turny movie from legendary director Sidney Lumet (82 Years old!!!). Starring the ever Brilliant Philip Seymour Hoffman, who again is fantastic, and the always Under-Rated Ethan Hawke, who matches Hoffman, every step of the way. The story will have you gripped from start to finish. Really enjoyed this well acted, well told, well directed robbery/crime drama.

The Best Crime Drama I've ever seen!

I'm not a big fan of crime films, but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

The acting was superb by all, the script was well written and everything seemed so natural, and emotional. Similarly to 'No Country For Old Men', there is almost no background music or sound in this film, which some people may find boring and in some cases ruin the movie. But it certainly didn't bother me. This movie keeps you brain active by putting the pieces together.

Although it's a fairly straight forward film, the film is divided into sections. At the beginning of the film, you see the main event happen. The next section is about four weeks before, and how they start to plan it all. the great thing about this movie is not that though, but all the drama that comes after. And how everything that could possibly go wrong, does.

This film is very different to most crime films, which puts it in a league of it's own. Highly recommended.

can you ever trust your own family?
two brothers driven by their sores think they have found the ultimate solution.
in thisa drama-movie, the story is slowly building up from one bad move of the protagonists to the next of their flaws. Finally exploding in a last act of violence by..... (that remains to be discovered by watching this movie).
Hoffman and Hawke don't disappoint with their strong and dramatical performances. and also Albert Finney delivers a brilliant strike here.

This film was ok but not as good as others have said. I myself was looking forward to seeing it given the good reviews but i have to say that i was left disappointed and quite bored. I usually like these types of films so dont know what was wrong with this one- not for everyone!
