Finally!!! i have been searching hi & lo for ages, i remember watching it in 93' n feeling mesmerized by kurts presence. this is truley a dvd for the archive that MUST be watched again n again.
As long as i can remember being a Nirvana fan, i have never been as Shocked as i was when i saw this Performance.
Kurt's vocals were Powerful, Strong and for the first time, he didn't raise his voice for any song, the way they presented their show was amazing, and even the Cover songs couldn't make me turn away.
If you truly like Nirvana, this is a Must Have. You will not regret it.
thank god that this performance by the worlds greatest grunge band has been put on to dvd because MTV doesn't play this show as often as it should. This is simply the best gig nirvana has ever played and they played some damn good shows. The songs are all performed beautifully and the adaptation from electric to acoustic is nothing short of perfect. But the one thing thats makes this show stand out amongst all others is it's honesty, simplicity and above all else, it's intimacy. even though the venue is packed out, it still feels like nirvana are there playing to one person, or even no-one, they're stripped down and having a good time, although everyone knows that kurt cobain was more nervous than ever for this particular gig, he manages to swallow that fear and put on a mezmerising performence. His interaction with the crowd is probably my favorite bit about this gig, Cobain is funny and relaxed, Noveselic doesnt miss a beat and Grohl is probably the most impressive one out of the 3, for we all know he's the hardest hitting drummer in the world and the way he's quieted down in this gig is magical and then when you consider his backing vocals, he's nothing short of a genious himself. It seems as though Nirvana made some mistakes in their playing, but instead of making a massive effort to correct them or cover them up, as most artists would, they just play through them and make them even welcome, as though they were planned and all they do is add the nirvana's raw image. The stage lay out is a masterpiece, with all the candles and funerals it looks just as kurt cobain wanted it to look like; a funeral (as it says he wanted it to look like in the 'documentary' in the extras) the two more blobs of icing of on the cake are 1) the meat puppets. for nirvana not to bring some massive grunge stars and bring on the lesser known meat puppets is a stroke of genious, not to meantion playing 3 of their songs and 2) the fact that no were nirvana hits were played, it shows they are comfortable enough to just be themselves and play the songs that sounded best in acoustic. The best track in the set has got to be 'Where did you sleep last night?', the last track simply becasue of cobain's vocals towards the end. and im running out of thins to say. this dvd offers so much more than watching it on tv ever could, more tracks, more crowd interaction, and nirvans rehersing. the great thing is though, in this show, nirvana are just normal people playing some extra-ordinary songs
It is really nice to see a band that does not ty to blow throw an acoustical set by belting out there classics. It must be understood that Nirvana who were already hugely popular at the time needed not to take this risk but did anyway with a very high reward.
As you would expect Kurt's volcals are extremely good and the close intimate nature of the gig makes it seem more personal almost as if there playing just to you, and you seem awfully aware that they are creating something special.
If your a Nirvana fan or just a fan of this kind of music then i think you know that you'll like it.
How in the world has this performance only just been released on dvd? Why has it taken so long? I guess courtney must be running real low on cash again. Anyway- this is the most greatest unplugged session mtv ever showed. As a young 17 year old when i first watched this i was well taken back. when I did have it on video tape i made sure all my freinds watched it and now today thanks to me they are all great nirvana fans. This is a must for anyone's music dvd collection. Buy it now and own somthing timeless! FANTASTIC.
