Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300 is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy. The film brings Miller's (Sin City) acclaimed graphic novel to life by combining live action with virtual backgrounds that capture his distinct vision of this ancient historic tale.

 Disappointing

I bought this film for my husband-after I heard it was better than Gladiator! It is an insult to Gladiator to even compare the two. Granted it is a visually stunning film, in the same vein as Sin City, but the story is inaccurate and the fighting scenes are so far fetched, they made us giggle in appropriately, and the acting is of a pantomine quality.

Firstly I must mention that I didnt fancy watching this movie from the trailers.
It just looked dark and dreary and too cartoony.
Now that I have watched it, I must say I was very impressed with it.
The film is Visually Stunning and the Special Effects blend in well.
The fight Scenes are Brutal but inventive at the same time.
The film exudes a Manly energy of a 100 Action movies combined..
The performances are good, Gerard Butler is perfectly cast.
I also really liked the voiceover being told from a modern perspective.
Even though the story is based on certain facts, it is decorated in Visual Fanatasy.
A little research shows the true picture, leaving this Movie as a brilliant piece of entertainment
This is the Second movie I have seen from Director Zack Snyder, the other being Watchmen,
and I must say I am looking forward to his possible re-booting of the Superman movie,
with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight and Inception) on Producer duties. Woo Hoo. If it happpens

 i'd rather clean 300 toilets

i gave this film one star but honestly i think thats far too nice. This ladies and gentlemen is an awful film. I could critisise this dreadful pile of rubbish all day but im sick of talking about it already. there are too many bad points i could say so im going to cut it down to this. The man who directed this film is a cretin. The acting in this film is unspeakable. The cgi and the music and the script plus the story is grossly shocking. Dont watch this. ever.

This is the sort of movie I would recommend if you have had a hard day of work and you want to relax in front of a bit of Spartan mass slaughter.

300 certainly hits the spot if you want to watch a blood bath. Some of the action scenes are truly legendary, with fantastic directing and insane choreography.

Mind you the plot is pretty weak, and the style can get monotonous.

The film will leave you shouting spartan warcries and the immense desire to skewer a few persians on a spear.

 Poor remake

If you have seen and liked the original 300 Spartans you wont care for this film very much, should this movie had been given a large budget like Troy or Gladiator it would have been brilliant but its a cheap knock off heavily relying on computer graphics with the Persians turning into some sort of demon.
I took my father to see this at the cinema and regretted it he was bewildered to what had happened to the original story.
If you want computer aided violent fight scenes like Sin City you will like this film, It was a huge disappointment to me.
