Stanley Kubrick's classic 2001: A Space Odyssey!
When a large black monolith is found beneath the surface of the moon, the reaction immediately is that it was intentionally buried. When the point of origin is confirmed as Jupiter, an expedition is sent in hopes of finding the source. When Dr. David Bowman discovers faults in the expeditionary space craft's communications system, he discovers more than he ever wanted to know.

Only one complaint: too short.

I believe there are two kinds of movies and two kinds of audiences. There are movies that you watch and then let it go the instance the credits starts to roll, and there´s an audience that really just wants to do that. And then there are movies that ask the audience to participate in the experience, to really think about what you´re watching and feeling, and yes, there is an audience that wants to do that. 2001 is aimed at the latter (just my opinion though). You can´t gain interest into something you´re just not interest in. So, if you´re NOT into adventure, mystery, questions that have no right nor wrong answers, amazing visual beauty, striking and unique filmmaking, then do not watch this masterpiece of the everfading art. The special effects of 2001 still outdoes pretty much every CGI creation nowadays in realism, and this was made in the sixties. Stanley Kubrick had something I wish every director could use, then, movie experiences would be as they should.
I Had to let it Grow!!!!!!

When i read the"This Film was Boring Reviews"I Think"part of me can understand what they mean"But"i could never let that be my final judgement.I Think Years ago when i caught 2001 on T.V i wasent ready for it,i was very young and werent familiar with Kubrick and his Style and found it a little too Surreal. On recently re-visiting 2001 as a much older person and someone clued up about about films"I Found it to be a Supurb peice of Cinema,The whole Dawn of man sequence,The Blue danube,The death of Al,The Trip,The opening Titles,The Truly great Music Score"Were Talking"BIG People.Kubrick sometimes made difficult films and this i understand could throw a few people too,But it is Powerful film making,A Bold,Surreal Celebration of This crazy world and Life as we know it.

Though I saw it at the cinema on release, for some long-forgotten reason I didn't buy this film when it came out on VHS many, many years ago. For the same long-forgotten reason I didn't buy it when it first came out on DVD either.
When I saw the 2-disc edition going cheap recently I wondered why I hadn't bought it before and decided that, bearing in mind the excellent reviews, I must have it. When I watched it I remembered why I hadn't bought it before - it's not only one of the most boring films I've ever seen, it's also quite simply a most pretentious load of rubbish.
I truly could not recommend anyone wasting their money on this film no matter how cheap it is, unless you simply have trouble sleeping. Whist it won't instantly cure your insomnia, it will cure it within about 15 minutes. It took me 3 days to watch it between lengthy periods of knocking out the Zs (which frankly was infinitely more enjoyable than the periods I spent awake watching it). Avoid at all costs.
