Stomping, whomping, stealing, singing, tap-dancing, violating, Derby-topped teddy-boy hooligan Alex (Malcolm McDowell) has his own way of having a good time. He has it at the tragic expense of others.

Alex's journey from amoral punk to brainwashed proper citizen forms the dynamic arc of Stanley Kubrick's future-shook vision of Anthony Burgess's novel. Unforgettable images, startling musical counterpoints, the fascinating language used by Alex and his pals - Kubrick shapes them into a shattering whole.

If you want this movie make sure you buy this edition the film has been released 3 or 4 times at least in different sleeves "cult classics" etc but this is the first version that has been re-mastered and the picture is now anamorphic at last . I have the original DVD this is much better and a decent bunch of extras are included this time round . BRILLIANT !

 Moloko Plus!!!

There was me that is Alex and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie and Dim and we sat in the Korova milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. The Korova Milk Bar sold milkplus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence. Our pockets were full of money so there was no need on that score, but, as they say, money isn't everything.. The opening scene from A Clockwork Orange speaks for itself, get ready for a movie that will make you sit up and take notice of the highs and lows of the main character and narrator that is Alex (Malcom McDowell). If you haven't seen this movie yet, isuggest you buy yourself a copy then sit back with a bottle of moloko plus and enjoy, Viddy well, my little Brother. Viddy well. Ho, Ho, Ho... Well, if it isn't stinking Billygoat Billyboy in poison. How are thou, thou globby bottle of cheap stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou.Enjoy Brothers!!

This film was breathtaking from start to finish. A tale that investigates the idea of free will and the consequences to us all if we lose this. To judge this film purely on its violence woud simply be missing the point and the violence in the film is justifiably extreme as we have to see what merits the treatment Alex recieves. A true classic that I woud recommend to anyone. Also would suggest reading the book.

 One of Kubrick's best!!!

This film has got to be in my top five favourite movies, every aspect of it is almost perfect which isn't a surprise when you consider Kubrick's almost unattainable standards but this particular story deserves nothing less. Being a child of the eighties, I didn't see A Clockwork orange until I was at university and it came on general release in 2000, by which time i had discovered the novel. I have to say it was not what I expected as it deviates from Anthony Burgess' narrative on a few points but it works very well as an almost separate entity. It is visually rich, excellently cast and the language spoken by the films anti-hero Alex and his droogs is at the same time strange and compelling. As a social commentary this film is second to none and I think people like pottypete who watch it only for the violent scenes and end up somewhat disappointed are missing the point completely. After all, it was only after a spate of copycat beatings when the film was first released that Kubrick himself removed the film from the public eye. So bloodthirsty idiots existed in the seventies as well then? That would seem to be the case!

 Bizzare, Macabre, brilliant

The reason i watched this movie had nothing to do with the great reviews I read. It was simply due to infamy, and by doing so, i found such a great movie. I was so incredibly moved by the thought and intelligence that was put into this movie. I appreciate it is not for the faint hearted, but if you can see past that, this has such an intelligent storyline and a moral message... Brilliant!
