extreme special effects a great watch well worth it for a tenner

Can anyone confirm if the 'wavy fading in/out subtitles on the TV broadcast of Nightwatch are present on the dvd version of both discs?

Matrix like... even story is a bit Matrixy in a weird kinda way. Good story if you manage to take everything in. A combination of folk tales and classic tales from around the world in one nicely put package.

Can't explain much about the film as it is too much to explain, it is worth watching specially if you are into dark or fantasy films.

For centuries, the battle between light and darkness have kept an un easy truce.The underground members of the night watch have formed a supernatual police force protecting our world from the dark ones.
These are Russian blockbusters about Vampires, witches, shape- shifters and sorcerers that wage war on each other, and it is completly mental!
The films are crazy and make very little sense.
They even make the entire Highlander series of movies look like a master work in fluent story telling.
But what makes these two movies work is the imagination. The effects are mind blowing and even put the Matrix to shame for ground breaking imagination.
Don't buy thses movies thinking your going to get a thought provoking Russian classic. But if you want a fantasy horror, thats runs like a Hybrid of Highlander, Blade and the Matrix thats addicted to Red Bull, Then the film will score high.
Also watch the films with the sub-titles on as the dubbed english sound track is off putting.
Crazy, off it's head and out of it's skull, But good fun.

both dvds were great could watch them over again. but did not know that night watch was in russian and could not change it into english

Don't get me wrong, I think these films are great. But for the gift buyer/casual browser it's an easy mistake to be sucked in by this pointless version. If you buy them separate, you might lose out on fancy box art, but when the third one comes out, you'll be offered a trilogy box set, if you *need* a box set, wait for that one!

Other than that, they are both great films, well worth your time and attention.
