After a year in therapy, a down-on-his-luck novelist named Solo (Giovanni Ribisi) buys a dog to cheer himself up. But his four-legged friend is a bigger handful than he ever imagined. So he turns for help to his best friend Casper (Scott Caan), a womanizing photographer, who only multiplies his problems and causes a comedy of errors to ensue. When a short-tempered loan shark (Kevin Corrigan), and a rich obsessive dog collector (Mena Suvari) try to take the dog off Solo's hands, Solo realizes he can't part with him. Things start looking up when he meets an attractive woman (Lynn Collins) at a dog park. But as everyone grows increasingly obsessed with Solo's loyal canine companion, the situation really gets out of control when the dog mysteriously goes missing...
