This landmark series uses specialist imaging and compelling narrative to tell the life story of our planet, how it works, and what makes it so special. Examining the great forces that shape the Earth - volcanoes, the ocean, the atmosphere and ice - the programme explores their central roles in our planet's story. How do these forces affect the Earth's landscape, its climate, and its history? CGI gives the audience a ringside seat at these great events, while the final episode brings together all the themes of the series and argues that Earth is an exceptionally rare kind of planet - giving us a special responsibility to look after our unique world. This is a series that shows the Earth in new and surprising ways. Extensive use of satellite imagery reveals new views of our planet, while timelapse filmed over many months brings the planet to life. Offering a balance between dramatic visuals and illuminating facts, this ground-breaking series makes global science truly compelling.

 FANTASTIC

I saw this advertised on the telly and only decided to watch it because of the fantastic graphics but I AM SO GLAD that I did watch it! It made me realise what an amazing planet we live on and just how beautiful it is, when the programme finished I couldn't speak because of the impact the programme had on me! I just wish that everybody could have seen it, it also made me realise just how insignificant us human beings are against the power of nature. The one thing that Iain Stewart said that stuck with me was when he said that even when we breathe air we take it for granted: WE TAKE EVRYTHING FOR GRANTED! I really have started to realise that life is way too short and the only way we can appreciate the beauty and power of the planet is by living fully! Iain Stewart I salute you.

The best BBC DVD I have seen ever.

This DVD should be seen by everyone into politics, education and all students and professors, and all the rest.
Explain very clearly about disasters and the forces volcanos, atmose, ice, oceans act upon the earth. Also the disasters humans will create that will kill all life on earth.

 MUST BE SEEN !!!

Seen on T.V. and pre ordering as we cannot wait to see it again. This is an amazing programme about our amazing Earth. Our planets history told easily. My 5 year old son also loves it. EVERYONE SHOULD SEE IT. We also want this DVD for our children to learn from it when they are older. ABSOLUTLY AMAZING. Can't wait for the release date.

This short but entertaining series about Earth has to be the best the BBC has ever comissioned. The Doctor gives you information with such joy and seems on a constant high with all that he sees. He does repeat himself about certain facts but that just goes to show how Earth needs a circle to keep going. You would think he would be better suited to the classroom, if i had him as a t eacher when I was at school, my science grade would have been better than it was. He makes you sit up and listen to what he's saying, not because he's shoutingI but because his energy leeks out the screen, you feel not obliged to, but willing to listen to what he is saying. I just hope they bring out his most recent effort about ARE affect on the planet soon.
