From acclaimed writer Andrew Davies comes this enchanting new adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel about love and marriage. Marianne Dashwood wears her heart on her sleeve when she falls in love with the charming but unsuitable John Willoughby, ignoring her sister Elinor's warning that her impulsive behaviour leaves her open to gossip and innuendo. Elinor, sensitive to social convention, struggles to conceal her own romantic disappointment, even from those closest to her. Will the sisters learn that sense must mix with sensibility if they are to find personal happiness in a society where status and money govern the rules of love?

I was pleased to see that the BBC was doing sense and sensibility i watched it New Year and I'm looking forward to watching this DVD over and over again. It was BBC drama back to its best, holding its own with such BBC classics such as Pride and prejudice. The women were whimsical and the men in it smouldering, definately one for the girls. What a girl wouldn't do to be swept off her feet by such dashing men, costumes great not a fault in sight.
Good as it gets

The reason Jane Austens books have remained classics for nigh on 200 years is because they are great works of literature and no TV or film adaption can ever replace that. As adaptions go though I have to admit this is thoroughly enjoyable with a great cast and excellent direction and of all the filmed versions this is the best I have seen.
Great way to start the year

Watched all three and I'm not someone who has ever been into Jane Austen or taken a liking to period dramas. But this was amazing. Great cast, brilliantly edited and I like the soundtrack too. It surprised me how much I wanted to watch it (after the first episode). I will be more open to period dramas now and intend to read the books. Loved it!
