An amazing TV program, perfect for saturday night!

This is an awesome program, with something for all the family. I dont get why people think the actors on Primeval cant act but they are meant to be normal people that have found rips in time to prehistoric times, and have reacted like normal people should when in situations like this, and have done this perfectly. The CGI is great and the story has lots of twists init to make you want watch more and more...
Shame that the first 2 series are 6-7 episodes each series, but series 3 will be 13-14 episodes and their will be alot more series so i cant wait!!
5/5 the program is so amazing, a worth-while watch no matter what age!!!
P.S. This is alot better than Dr Who..

saw the trailers last year and we all new this was itv`s attempt to get some science fiction on primetime saturday night tv after the success of dr who.i was getting a bit bored of torchwood so i thought i would give this a go and you know what i was really impressed.good premise, actors, stories, yes the cgi was more walking with dinosaurs than jurassic park but that did not matter.each episode was self contained and each one lead nicely up to the finale` which was very well done.series 2 kicked off in great fashion and we never looked back.yes each series is far too short and should have been at least 12 episodes in length but altogether its been really good and i can wait for series 3.oh yes....still enjoying it more than torchwood.

I enjoyed watching this programme, partly because i found myself not doin much saturday nights. Nevertheless after watching one episode i could not help but watch the next.

Each episode ended on a cliff hanger, meaning i was bound to come back another look. The action is content and not too flashy or gruesome. It is well acted and there is strong tension between the characters in the story. Overall its an enjoyable family experience, but as a teenager i found it a litle too predictable. However, it is entertaining and the mystical creatures featured add to the convincing stroyline.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Way too short to be good for itself.

Have you ever watched those series that dragged on?
you know like when there is a traitor, it's spanning 27 seasons before our heroes find out who snitched.
Well - this has only seen 2 seasons yet, but most of the plots and twists are done withing one series (except the ones at the end, the mandatory cliffhanger to end one series with and hint to the next. This fast paced stuff is one of the things I like about this series. There is a lot I like about this series:
the actors (a well cast lot), the writing, special effects (no jurrassic park, more the walking with dinosaurs stuff, but - for a TV show very impressive!) .
There is one thing, however I truly HATE about this series... there are only 6 to 7 episodes per season!!!!
That's way to short ... honestly ... 6 to 7 episodes gets me into the "primeval mode" ... and then I run out of episodes ... in this case that's the end of one season ... torture!!!

I feel like when I bought Battlestar Galactica 2005 season 2.0 (american release), little did I know that because it was still aired, they only put the first half of season 2 on DVD and it ended in the middle of a hell of climactic moment - just like that - almost -but not quite- like when Boba Fett gets away with Han Solo and before you can even think "will they rescue him" THE END CREDITS APPEAR!

But - aside of such frustrations... I loved it and I still love it. Can't await the (alas TOO SHORT) season 3

now, i can only watch this when i brought the dvd's because when it's on, i'm at work.
the first series was good. it left with an edge-of-your-seat ending. which of course you want more...
now... series 2 starts...and it's already finished! i say WAY TOO SHORT!!!! 1ST SERIES ONLY 6 EPISODES AND 2ND SERIES IS ONLY 7. i watched all of series 2 in 1 day, on my day off!!
bring on more episodes!!!! because it's brilliant!!!!
more more more!!! COME ON SERIES 3...I'M WAITING!!!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Great family entertainment. Superb special effects.

Top 10 DVD Reviewer

Well, taken in the spirit it was intended, Primeval is good Sunday afternoon entertainment for the family. Scary enough to keep the kids glued to their seats but not so scary that they spend the rest of their lives mentally scared. The special effects are absolutely superb, way better than you would expect for a Tv series. Stories are simple, nothing too taxing, although the alternate timelines are likely to completely phase grandma. Acting is a bit flaky at times, as is the directing, but still great fun. The one major complaint is that each series is so very, very short. Oh, and I can't really see the point of buying the series 1&2 DVD, when the individual season DVD's are cheaper.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Monstrously good fun for all the family!

When I first started watching Series One of Primeval, I found myself wishing the pace would quicken up a bit, then, by about the third episode, I was hooked!
The characters in this programme are likeable and great fun to watch! I have to admit that some of the CGI has, on occasion, been sadly lacking, but 99% of the time, the effects are well produced and fit in well with the rest of the story.
I know this show has been compared to Doctor Who on numerous occasions, but, in all honesty, I feel it has an identity all of it's own and most of all - it's DAMN GOOD ENTERTAINMENT!!! Roll on Series Three!

Primevel is a rareity..... a bloody good night in.

It's entertaining, there's adventure, fear, romance and of course, Rex.

I'lll get the controversy out the way first.....
Inevitably, there are comparisons made with the BBC production, equally well done, Torchwood, and these comparisons have been done to death in magazines and online so I wouldn't propose doing this here..... Both series are well written, well acted and set in realistically in the 21st century.

The actors seem relaxed, the plots and characters work well together and the icing on the cake, is the introduction of the prehistoric beasts themselves - exceptionally well done. The addition of the ARC and their new boss for series 2 gives a base, rather than a shed or a uni office, formalising the status of the Primevel team. The characters work better now and there are many subplots which unravel through the series.

However, in good Star Trek fashion...... this is an alternate timeline, and who knows what will happen next year

Roll on series 3 - I'll be there with my pepsi and crisps and my feet up when I get in from work

Brilliant job all round
