Bad acting, slim plotlines, guns with endless supply of bullets - this is what we have all accepted with the RE franchise, and at various degrees, still enjoyed them.Until now. This 'effort' really does take the mickey. Its inane, banal, and just plain stpid.A glorified pop video, that makes the previous films oscar winners Time for a reboot, and create a film closer to the game.Avoid this one.

One of the better Resident Evil

The film has areas which seem not relevant to the whole story, however in comparison with other Resident Evils films, the one has high impact action, brings back old faces from the past which is fantastic for the audience. New elements in the film are good, the next one will end it on a high note.

And even worse than the last one!

No idea what the thinking was behind the film franchise as they seem to be getting progressively worse.
The first movie was okay at best but taking all things into account this is one of the worst
I loved the original 3 games and the story was really good, I hate to see bad games and worse films made on the back of them
Movies could of been so good but ruined with movies that change great story into a poor one.
Back to the movie its self very forgettable, poor plot at best with zombies out of resident evil 4 and 5. lots of over the top slow motion (we are tiered of this now) and bits in the movie to show off 3D
I really hope somebody in a few years rewrites and makes some better resident evil films in keeping with the original games and with a healthy 18 rating!
thanks for reading

A bit of progression in the story would have been nice!

I realy like the series, of course all sequels some are better than others, but by the end of the great Afterlife it looked like we were to expect the mother of all showdowns for part five. The opening sequence to Retribution is great, slowly rewinding the onslaught on the oil tanker with very flashy visuals and cool music, oh yeah this is going to be great I thought........ then it fast forwards and Alice wakes up in suberbia with a nice family and a deaf daughter and faces a zombie apocalypse at her front door including long dead members of her team. It's similar to Zack Snyder's excellent remake of Dawn of the dead (but not as good). Then things take a turn for the worse and she wakes up in a massive room lying on the umberella logo. The nasty corparation have been cloning and Alice finds she's hidden under the frozen arctic ice in a massive training complex and must battle through different scenario's to escape. Although the movies are based on games, it shouldn't feel like one. Each arena has it's big boss to fight. Director Anderson cannot figure out what Zombies he want's either animalistic flesh eaters, or intelligent Zombie soldiers that can walk in formation, drive trucks, ride motorbikes and fire RPG's. There is no suspence it's just loud and things blow up. There's no attempt for character arc's as the new characters turn up shoot guns and die. There's also no explanation why dead Villain's from the previous films are still alive ( I presume cloning). Massive gaps of logic slap you on the forehead, such as we have a giant licker that kills everything in it's path, but it doesn't kill the little girl. It takes her to it's nest and coccons her Aliens style. All Alice does is find the nest shoot the beast a few times it dies and she get's her out. You are left wondering what was the point in all that?. It's as if Anderson though "I like that bit in Aliens, I'll put it in also" it's that made up as it goes along feel that drags the movie down. It's got no direction and they could have totally missed this chapter out and progressed to the final showdown that the climax of this movie promises for part six. On a positive note Milla Jovovich as always is excellent as ever and although Director Anderson's script is terrible, he does pull off the visual's with some great action, cool moments, and another great music score. I didn't expect Shakespear as I'm a fan of the series and know what I was in for, but I did expect something that progressed the story along to some kind of conclusion. Roll on Res 6:!

Another very good film in the RE series. The opening set piece is truly majestic and the use of 3D during and throughout the rest of the film really works, unlike the majority of films that get the 3D treatment that leave you wondering... why ??.
The acid test for me was that the critics gave it a mauling, that almost guaranteed that I was going to enjoy it !!

Yet again another awesome sequel in the brilliant resident evil series, this is a must for fans as these movies are mainly aimed at their major fan base now, the story continues really well with lots more cool twists and turns and the return of very many familiar faces from the past, the effects are top notch as usual and the movie soundtrack is awesome too, Milla jovovich is amazing to watch and her character Alice always gets better, the ending to this one is even more mind blowing than the last so roll on part 6. The 3D is top notch and works well too. Check it out.

Resident evil just got even better.

Make no mistake about it this is the best in the series so far. From the opening credits to the final haunting scene this is slam bang action all the way. We learn far more about alice and her origins plus more about the umbrella corps and how the world got into such a mess. A killer soundtrack, action all the way and you have a film to savour. well set up for the final instalment in two or three years time. Five stars- But it really deserves more.

  SEND IN THE CLONES

You'd be forgiven for thinking they should stop making these films, but they really pulled out all the stops for this one, really impressive action and effects!
Starting off where the last one ended, this soon gets into the action, and explains the story so far. The story does get a bit complex at times, but milla is on top form again,as the ass kicking, superhuman Alice. The creatures look bigger, better and badder, the effects are clearly done by a talented team that cares about this film, the action scenes are mostly superb and it doesn't drag. It's good to see the backstory and great to see michelle rodriguez back,we also see Alice as a housewife...sort of. This it where some things get confusing, clones are very much a part of this movie and often leaves you working out who's good and who's bad and what is this person doing there, you'll see what i mean when you watch it.
If you enjoyed the others,go for it,it looks incredible and though i can't yet say if i think it's as good as the others,if left an impression. Yep,i think a lot of fans are going to be blown away by this one.
