An excellent film, with great performances all round and a wonderful score by Michael Nyman. Good DVD, too, with some nice extras that make it worth upgrading - in addition to the deleted scenes and featurettes from the earlier release, this Special Edition includes two new featurettes entitled "Welcome to Gattaca" and "Do Not Alter?", running 21 and 14 minutes respectively. Good picture quality, too - looks great when upscaled.
Gattaca is a marvellous movie. It has an interesting premise and is beautiful to behold, so make sure you have an edition in your collection. The film itself deserves the full 5 stars.
The reason for the middling star rating is this: My edition is so old it's in a jewel case but has deleted scenes a substance test outtake and a featurette. So given the list of special features, I am dubious about whether this newly released special edition actually offers anything, well, new or special. Can anyone out there advise before I spend my hard-earned on something which is less than special and is more the product of a marketing department being a bit naughty?

This is a fantastic film. With a fairly cohesive storyline, gattaca is must see for all those science fiction drama fans.
