Elissa (Jennifer Lawrence) and her mother (Elisabeth Shue) move to a new town only to find that they are living next door to a house where a young girl murdered her parents.

Locals claim that the girl mysteriously vanished after the incident, but as Elissa becomes close to the girls brother (Max Thieriot), she learns that a dark and terrible secret still lurks within those walls and this sinister story of murder is far from over.

very disappointing, when you look at cover and read notes on back you will think this sound like it be a neat little chiller . how wrong you will be, the acting is nondescript at best, claims to have awesome twist at end but most film fans will get the twist long before then. this type of film has been done many times before and better. no scares and no thrills. save your money and wait till on telly.

A very disturbing flick! I see this more as a mental crime genre, not horror, I never jumped. The overall plot of the movie was decent but a little too extended. Superb acting from Jennifer Lawrence as usual but compared to her hits 'The Hunger Games, Silver Linings Playbook and Winter's Bone' - this is nothing!

If you want a good horror see...

I was almost put off watching this after such negative feedback but was very glad I did as it was a very good film, the story was great, right from the start it pulls you in and keeps you interested and wondering as to just what is going on, the overall feel of the film was very 80s in its style and title and the way the story played out with a few twists that are actually quite good, I had a lot of fun watching it and would certainly watch it again, Jennifer has done many roles and this is certainly one of her best she looks fantastic and helps the film along well with good character interaction, the films not that gory or anything it's a sweet and simple horror/thriller with good story and twists and some creepy vibes and scares, good entertainment well worth a watch!!! There is a making of too in the features. The bluray picture is very good.

 It's good for a PG-13

A decent enough (more of a thriller than a) horror, with clever twists and turns. It's not a five star film but it isn't a one star film either. This is far superior to many so-called horrors, with some actual character development. It kept me entertained throughout. Three stars = good. Jennifer Lawrence is always worth watching. Rent it.

House at the end of the street -watchable

This is no prize winner and has a cliched plot, i.e. single parent moves to small town with difficult daughter. It begins well and grabs your interest, then becomes a bit slow and tedious, with teen romance, but it redeems it self with a crescendo of action combined with a slightly predictable but well performed twist to finish. All in all a watchable film, not too scary but there are a few breath holding moments.
