The film opens with Super 8 footage of a family hanging from a tree, which I thought was very disturbing and original for a horror movie. Months later when failing true crime writer Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke) and his family move in, that's when the movie really starts to kick in! There are plenty of jumps and scares with the mixed in idea of child abduction too, very disturbing indeed! Would recommend to fans of original horror.

What can I say, this is a very clever horror film, reading the reviews I knew from the start it was going to be very scary, which it was. I thought I'd give this a watch because I'm a fan of Paranormal Activity and Insidious, but this, this was scarier than both of them combined, it had me glued from the start, the plot is very absorbing and clever. I didn't know the scares were coming, Which was very surprising, I felt very pleased after watching this film, as it lived upto my expectations, 5 stars. Definitely give this a watch horror fans!

The genre might be overcrowded these days, but this one actually stands out. The movie kept my interest from start through to the truly fearsome ending. Quite an effort in this age of horror comedy mixups...

 As Sinister as they come

Without spoiling the plot at all this film is up there with the best if you like horror films, to me the main thing is a horror film makes you jump which this did plenty of times and the story line is good and easy to follow too, my advice is crank up the volume and get ready.

 Get ready to jump!.....LOTS!!!

I saw this film at the cinema and am awaiting it's dvd release with anticiaption...why? Well, Sinister is one of the very few horrors lately that actually lived up to all the hype. The storyline draws you in from the beginning,a writer writing a new book about a house where sinister things have taken place. There are some gruesome parts, but Sinister doesn't go over the line with the gorey stuff it just shows enough to play on your mind. Troughout the film there are jumps galore, and although you think you know when they're coming, you don't!

If you haven't seen this film hire it, buy it, borrow it from someone and i dare you to sit alone and watch it one night. Yes, it's that frightening! Move over Paranormal Activity, this is way more scarier.
