Jackie Chan, the ultimate martial arts/kung fu actor, teamed up with Chris Tucker, the ultimate loud-mouth but lovable actor. You probably wouldn't think it works but it does. Rush Hour has scenes of immense action, hilarious comedy, and even compelling drama. I wont spoil it for you by telling you the plot. You just need to see it. Also, see if you can notice "Lost" star Ken Leung. He looks different in this but you should be able to recognise him. He's one of the main baddies.
This first installment to the comedy/ action series really takes a lot from the far superior 'Lethal Weapon' series that ended four years before this very good rip-off was released. While lowering the violence associated with the Gibson/ Glover productions, this film replaces it with some very clever martial arts sequences from the martial arts master, Jackie Chan. Not a bad storyline, but it does get repetitive.
Good laughs. Good fights. No originality, but that's not what you want from a film like this, you want to be entertained. Although it does that, it could do it a lot more. Overall a good film, if you like it I'd definatly recommend Shanghai Noon / Nights, and some of Jackie's earlier pictures (Mr Nice Guy / Rumble in the Bronx).
