i saw this for the first time many years ago, but i have never tierd of it.these parts must have been written with morrison and owen in mind, they are absoloutely brilliant in their portrayal of the circumstances in which they live with through the film.you can't help but feel for morrison throughout the film as he fights to hold onto old years. i can't say enough about this film....

Out in 1994 this is still one of the most hard hitting movies to deal with poverty and family issues ever. Superb acting from all of the cast and most have gone onto bigger and better known things since. You will feel part of the film from the beginning and it won't let you go till every ounce of emotion is drained from you. Tremendously sad but an amazing, must see film none the less.

This filn is really worthwhile for fans of gritty, honest cinema. It deals with hte unspoken reality of New Zealand's poverty line population. the film has some excellent, and disturbing, performances and leaves you thoroughly deflated. Overall, the message that these people are in a terrible situation comes blasting out.
