Joel and Ethan Coen have blazed a cinematic trail that is truly independent in spirit and original in style. Continuing to excite audiences over the world, the Coen Brothers interweave wordy dialogue with striking imagery to great effect. By balancing stark contrasts; black humour and violence, pathos and passion, they create a filmic texture that is all their own.
Blood Simple (1984): A rich but jealous man hires a private investigator to kill his cheating wife and her new man. But, when blood is involved, nothing is simple.
Raising Arizona (1987): When a childless couple of ex-con and an ex-cop decide to help themselves to one of another family's quintuplets, their lives get more complicated than they anticipated.
Miller's Crossing (1990): Tom Reagan, an advisor to a Prohibition-era crime boss, tries to keep the peace between warring mobs but gets caught in divided loyalties.
Barton Fink (1991): In 1941, New York intellectual playwright Barton Fink comes to Hollywood to write a Wallace Beery wrestling picture. Staying in the eerie Hotel Earle, Barton develops severe writer's block.
The Hudsucker Proxy (1994): A naïve business graduate is installed as president of a manufacturing company as part of a stock scam.
Fargo (1996): Jerry Lundegaard's inept crime falls apart due to his and his henchmen's bungling and the persistent police work of pregnant Marge Gunderson.
The Big Lebowski (1998): 'Dude' Lebowski, mistaken for millionaire Lebowski, seeks restitution for his ruined rug and enlists his bowling buddies to get help.
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000): Set in 1930s Deep South, three stumblebum convicts escape to go on a quest for treasure and meet various characters while learning where their real fortune lies.
The Man Who Wasn't There: (2001) A laconic, chain-smoking barber blackmails his wife's boss and lover for money to invest in dry cleaning, but his plan goes terribly wrong.
Intolerable Cruelty: (2003) A revenge-seeking gold digger marries a womanizing Beverley Hill lawyer with the intention of making a killing in the divorce.
The Ladykillers: (2004) An eccentric, if not charming Southern professor and his crew pose as a band in order to rob a casino, all under the nose of his unsuspecting landlord: a sharp old woman.

Joel & Ethan Coen are quite possibly the finest film directors in the last 20 years and this boxset proves it. With classics such as 'Barton Fink', 'O Brother Where Art Thou?' and the unforgettable tale of murder and misguidence, 'Fargo', I can't seem to understand why you don't already own this collection?
This is a must for all movie buffs out there and with the DVD release of 'No Country For Old Men', 2007's masterpiece just around the corner, why not a better time to invest in some quality cinematic adventures.
The Coens have proved to the world that they are worthy of directing and are definatly in my opinion, up there with the big names (Orson Wells, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese ect).
