I was suprised at how good this was, I went to watch it with my friends at the cinema and we all got scared or freaked out at least once during this film. I have to say though the flashbacks get pretty irritating after a while, I know they are neccessary to the story and the development of the Jigsaw character but they just get annoying. Apart from that it was great, a top notch horror film. Bring on Saw 5!!

Even the stylish cover cannot "cover up" a story.

The problem with sequels that extend this far, and with a 5th SAW coming out, one would think the story had gone too far. To be honest, when watching this film, after seeing it at the cinema, I felt throughout the entire film that they had stretched the story just that bit too far. Everything had ended but they just had to continue. The film delivers some ok twists and gore but I felt disappointed at the end and walked out thinking: "what was the point in that?" I saw much more satisfaction from SAW III, but I know fans did not want the story to end at just 3 films, which is why there has become 5. It makes you wonder how far directors and producers would go, with the lack of original ideas out there these days.
The cover may look good and very stylish in-tune with the film, but it does not camouflage how good/bad the film was.

You'll either love it or hate it. I loved it.

Saw IV is an unusual film, in that it seems people either love it or detest it - there is no half way point. I personally thought it was excellent.

After the let down of Saw III, I was a little alarmed to hear that another was coming out the next year. Nonetheless, I persevered and went to see it, and I'm glad I did.

Saw IV fills in many of the blanks left by Saw III and really begins to flesh out the character of Jigsaw. Sometimes when a franchise tries to explain why a killer is the way he is, it ends up ruining the character (ala Michael Myers in Halloween 2007 or Hannibal Lecter in Red Dragon).

Jigsaw, however, benefits greatly from this. The reasons are well written and they actually manage to evoke some level of sympathy from a man who is essentially sadistic murderer.

The film is very gory - more so, even, than Saw III - and there are several moments that will make you squirm, while the final plot twist is well executed and something of a surprise.

I'd recommend it if you are a fan of horror or the Saw franchise. If you're not, this movie most definitely is not for you.

Saw the fourth edition to the SAW series when it came out last october and have to say i was impressed.
I'm sure the number one rule for making a SAW sequel is MORE GORE because this really is a gore fest. Totally gripping and definately satisfies anyone who a bit bloodthirsty.
I thought, however, the only letdown was the storyline. It might just be i'm a bit slow but i didn't really get the end. Well i kinda did. I think this movie is ace and can't wait for SAW's 5 & 6 but i do think this all-over-the-place storyline in 4 was a bit of a letdown. I know SAW movies make you think and go ''oooohh rite' at the end but this one i think has a storyline that is too vast and it just gets confusing towards the end.
But still...An excellent movie =]

 Awesome DVD, movie?....NOT

Im a big fan of the first Saw film, but I think the sequels are so good, and this one, is def the worst. Starts off with a really gory autopsy, and a cool trap, but the film goes downhill very soon.
The only good thing I find about this film is the flashbacks and of course, Jigsaw. Its worth renting to see how the story goes, but the film is very lame IMO. But this dvd release is awesome tho', and it includes the comic book "Saw Rebirth". 4/10.
