Heidi, a radio DJ, is sent a box containing a record -- a "gift from the Lords." The sounds within the grooves trigger flashbacks of her town's violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the Lords back to take revenge on Salem, Massachusetts?

I really can't believe how many people like this movie, it has had very mixed reviews and I had to see it for myself being a very big Rob Zombie fan, house of a 1000 corpses and devils rejects were great films, even if they did mimic Texas chainsaw etc, they were full on hardcore in your face horror as were both the Halloween movies, I loved the Halloween remakes for the totally gory violent impact that they are, I was really hoping lords of Salem might deliver some of the same energy given the fact that the story is way different of course to his previous directions, but it was terrible, the movie is so boring building up with a messy surreal story and pointless scares, you really hope that its all building up to a great pay off but it don't, the cast was only ok, Sheri moon cant act and was only good for showing off her bum in a few shots, some of the support cast was good but wasted, as for the effects and surreal imagery it was boring, the only good thing I can say is that the soundtrack is pretty cool, overall Its very disappointing I can hardly believe Zombie made this hard to watch drawn out 96min drivel!! I can now see why this went straight to DVD in the UK, watch it if you must. The DVD has no special features except for a trailer, its really not worth a second viewing, RENT IT.

 Another Rob Zombie Success!

I am a big horror fan, and love Rob Zombies work. He brings together witchcraft and satanic cults in The Lords of Salem, to create a chilling tale of the birth of the anti-christ. With incredible acting from lead Sheri Moon Zombie (wife of Rob), and a FANTASTIC soundtrack, The Lords of Salem manages to draw parallels with biblical stories in an eerie and twisted way.

I would recommend this film to fans of the horror genre, particularly those who enjoyed The Exorcist and The Omen. Fans of music will also enjoy this release for the incredible soundtrack.

 More Good Than Bad

I found Lords of Salem to have its good and bad points, obviously shot on a much smaller budget than Zombie has been used to in the past and littered with familiar faces(The credits list both Michael Berryman and Sid Haig, but i'll be Damned if I can spot them)He still does chillingly well.I also have to say that I was seeing more than a hint of those two great horrors Rosemarys Baby and The Shining throughout the film.Rosemary,in the scenes with Heidi's Landlady and her friends and The Shining in both the scenes that consentrated on the Boarding house room doors and hallway aswell as dull menacing areas suddenly filled with colour and light, sweeping staircases and Operatic music.A frightening flick.

 ODD

I love Rob Zombie's style, which is very much in here, but this isn't one of his best films.

This starts off with a load of witches doing weird things involving the birth of a baby,of sorts, this comes back into it later.
Sherri Moon Zombie plays an ex-junkie dj who hosts a slightly odd radio show, she receives a record which she plays and it makes her go a little odd,in a trance you could say.
She later plays this on her show and it makes women listeners react the same way.
A man who is a guest on the show amd wrote about the witches of salem wants to find out more about this record and the more that's discovered, the weirder things get.

There's a lot of great images to show Rob's mind is as warped as ever, but in a good way. I was expecting awful after all the negative reviews, but it's really not that bad,it's interesting enough and the acting is fine. I shall certainly give it another go one day and perhaps get it a bit more, but for now,i'd say it's pretty good,but...odd!
