Evil Dead, the highly anticipated reboot of Sam Raimi's 1981 cult-hit horror film The Evil Dead, is produced by the original team of Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi (Spider Man 3), and Bruce Campbell (Spider Man 3), and features a fresh young cast. Evil Dead is a bone-chilling film that combines all the raw excitement and gleeful gore of the acclaimed original with a series of shocking new twists.

A remote cabin in the woods becomes a blood-soaked chamber of horrors when a group of 20-something friends unwittingly awakens an ancient demon in Evil Dead. Mia (Jane Levy), a young woman whose life has been marred by loss and addiction, asks her brother David (Shiloh Fernandez), his girlfriend Natalie (Elizabeth Blackmore) and their childhood friends Olivia (Jessica Lucas) and Eric (Lou Taylor Pucci) to join her at the family's rustic cabin to help her overcome her demons. Once there, she ceremoniously destroys the last of her stash and swears off drugs for good in front of her friends. Inside, they are shocked to discover that the abandoned cabin has been broken into. The cellar has been transformed into a grotesque altar surrounded by dozens of mummified animals. Eric becomes fascinated with an ancient book he discovers there. In thrall to its mysterious contents, he reads aloud from it, never suspecting the terrifying consequences he is about to unleash.

As predicted on my BBC radio film show, this film will appeal to those who have no idea what a good horror film is! After the crud that was House of wax remake , Texas chainsaw( remake!) Nightmare on elm street ( remake) ,Jason 94 or whatever , Saw whatever number comes this totally predictable mish mash aimed at a specific cinema goer with a specific mind set ( see reviews of this film already posted )" - boring high on gore( as If that makes a classic ) . The Cabin in the woods was a tad more enjoyable with some decent Hollywood thespianis.. This evil dead Trollope has a bunch of wannabes who have no hope in the acting world except in class C horror films . Add the last exorcism franchise and you can appreciate how easy it is to make money in the global industry. Did not jump once, laughed at many a feeble effect and smirked at the ham acting. At least Bruce Campbell's Ash had more guts and style and sam RAIMI must be giggling away in his future pension fund .. Totally abysmal .. And I bet I'm not in the minority with some sense when It comes to Superb horror .. Check out Insidious and now in the cineplexes THE CONJURING, that's proper film making folks !

 Stunning remake.

When a remake of The Evil Dead was announced fans moaned as another well known horror movie was to be redone.
But as someone who has never seen the original or its follow ups I decided to watch this then maybe watch the old ones in the future.
I'm so glad I did watch this reboot as to me its one of the finest and surprising horror movies in years and maybe ever.
As someone who was a bit sick and tired of some of the horror films coming out lately weather it be constant found footage stuff or straight to dvd rubbish it was so wonderful to see a horror movie that was different and was the first one in maybe about 4 maybe 5 years that I gave a full 5 stars to and that is something considering not mant horror films I have ever seen gets that rating.
The film itself starts off slow but turns into a gore filled, scary, action packed thrill ride but be warned is not for the faint hearted and certainly not for your granny or even mum.
The actors also for a change are excellent which has been another problem of horror movies lately as most are so wooden you could buy them all in Ikea and build them as a wardrobe, yes they are that bad some of them but the stars In this are brill especially the lady who plays Mia(Jane Levy) who is simply stunning as both good and bad and should without doubt be a huge star after this.
As for comparing it to the old films I wouldn't know but this is that great that its up there with a couple of Paranormal Activity films, the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Omen in terms of classics but not quite as good as The Blair Witch Project,28 Days Later,The Exorcist,Dawn Of The Dead or my all time favourite horror The Shining but all in all a highly surprising little horror cracker and so nice to finally see a horror movie that is different and one I can at last say is a five star masterpiece and yes don't listen to others on here who say it isn't any good because believe me when I say something ain't good i'll say it and this isn't great its STUNNING and BRILLIANT.

Evil Dead features unknown actors for starters, all deserved credit for starring in this movie! There are decent jumps and scares combined with some bloody gore! Although this movie did remind me a little of 'The Cabin In The Woods' but with the theme of exorcism and with a lot more gore! I definitely have to see the original, I think this was very underrated, give it a watch. Highly recommended.

The Evil Dead remake is finally released, but it's doesn't have a great deal in common with the original. The story has been tweaked, the evil has been tweaked, and the scares have changed. The movie is a little slow to get going, for around 30minutes it builds story, after this it goes Haywire! The final hour takes you to hell and back. There is a lot of unexpected moments, and a lot of gruesome things to see. The action is very close up, the use of blood is in excess, and many other fluids flow. The main Evil has taken a new shape, it is a combination of Evil Dead, Exorcist and The Ring put together, creating a very creepy and eerie being. I'd been waiting for this movie for a long time, and now it's finally arrived, and I am not disappointed! Entertaining with some good scares. Recommended
