Jodhaa Akbar is a sixteenth century love story about a marriage of alliance that gave birth to true love between a great Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a Rajput princess, Jodhaa. Political success knew no bounds for Emperor Akbar (Hrithik Roshan). After having secured the Hindu Kush, he furthered his realm by conquest until his empire extended from Afghanistan to the Bay of Bengal, and from the Himalayas to the Godavari River . Through a shrewd blend of tolerance, generosity, and force, Akbar won the allegiance of the Rajputs, the most belligerent Hindus. But little did Akbar know that when he married Jodhaa (Aishwarya), a fiery Rajput princess, in order to further strengthen his relations with the Rajputs, he would in turn be embarking upon a new journey - the journey of true love.
The daughter of King Bharmal of Amer, Jodhaa resented being reduced to a mere political pawn in this marriage of alliance, and Akbar's biggest challenge now did not merely lie in winning battles, but in winning the love of Jodhaa - a love hidden deep below resentment and extreme prejudice. Jodhaa-Akbar is their untold love story.

Where do I start?!
A beauty to watch, an extremely touching romance, fabulous costumes, fantastic acting by even the support cast, gr8 script. I watched it so many times without subtitles (i'm not an Urdu/Hindi speaker) simply because I couldn't wait for it to arrive with subtitles. Ash is in her elements in another period drama after the masterful remake of Devdas and Hrithik is giving another powerful potrayal.
A must watch for any world cinema fan.

This movie is a Classic in it's feild, the feild in question being the Epic 3 Hour Plus Period Movie. (Have i spelt feild right?) anyway fantastic story, time flys by, Hrithik is fantastic, another role he pulls off by getting into the skin of the charchter, his range is looking pretty impressive (Kaho Na Pyar Hai, Fiza, Mission Kashmir, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish, Lakshaye, Dhoom 2) he can pretty much make any kinda movie and make it well.
Ashwariya was good as i thought she was pathetic opposite Hrithik in Dhoom 2, very well directed, very highly recommended and very rewarding if you give it your time.
A Classic. Great DVD (Shame there isn't a Bluray release)
