According to "shuriken51" this is a "tacky Batman copy" Fortunately this is one of the characters Batman came from. Both the Shadow and the Phantom are much better than Batman but ultimately both characters were given worse stories, films etc. I think this film suffers from a bad cast but is a great film to watch. Sure Batman was brilliant but look at what happened. This was a one off and currently seems to be staying that way.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars a very good film

this is a superhero type movie and the hero the shadow isn't bad i saw this movie at the cinema and when i saw it i really enjoyed it. the movie has good bits where its quite dark which is good cause it takes it away from the pg areas. i would recomend buying this movie because there are much worse movies that you probably own

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars Fun adventure romp, nothing more nothing less

If Sam Raimi had gotten his hands on the film it would of been something of note(He made darkman instead). What it is though is a fun, action filled adventure with Baldwin looking broody and is a great switch off your brain sunday afternoon flick.
Try not to think of Batman as you watch it as The Shadow character was around a good 7/8 years before Batman was created and was the most famous pulp hero of the time.Fun basic adventure flick with a character begging for a better film and script.

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars A poor Batman copy.

This film was such a dissapointment. Then again, I ain't surprised as the bad guy is a ressurected form of Genghis Khan (it's as stupid as it sounds).
The dvd cover alone screams Batman in my face. I absolutley loved Batman and its villain was a gangsta who fell in a pool of acid and had his face permanently stuck as a massive cheesy grin but it still got away with it (then again, Jack Nicholson rocks). From the get go it is evident this is a tacky Batman copy with a slight twist where the hero does actually have a couple of super powers (and his powers are actually cool!). I think it's just a shame that there is actually hardly any action in this at all! I mean come on! This is a superhero movie and over half of it is constant yattering! I didn't grow any love for the main character or anger towards the main villian. I didn't really feel much besides dissapointment.
This movie could have been so much more, especially with a superhero as cool as the Shadow. The film was obviously trying to follow the lines of Batman but stumbled so badly. Just dodge this one guys.
