When a group of heavily armed and meticulously trained extremists launch a daring daylight ambush on the White House, the President (Aaron Eckhart, The Dark Knight) and his staff are taken hostage inside an impenetrable underground bunker.

But as the Oval office and its environs sustain an aerial and ground attack, a disgraced former U.S. Secret Service agent, Mike Banning (Gerard Butler,300), finds his way into the besieged building to do the job he has trained for all his life: to protect the president - at all costs.

With tension rising, the Acting President (Morgan Freeman, The Dark Knight Rises) and US national security team must rely on Banning to rescue the President before the terrorists can unleash their ultimate, terrifying plan.

From visionary director, Antoine Fuqua (Training Day),Olympus Has Fallen is an electrifying, and inspired action thriller that will keep your heart pounding from start to finish!

Personally I think this is one of the most badass action movies since the days of die hard and under siege, this movie is so oldschool in its execution it's a fan boys dream, this movie basically is under siege 3 the only thing missing is Steven Seagal, it's a straight forward story about a gang of terrorists taking over one of the most secure location on earth the white house and one man has to stop them, Gerard Butler is awesome as the lead, great actor, he is a one man army on the inside fighting alone to rescue the president and kill the bad guys!! Its predictable yes but that's the way it always was with the oldschool classics, good guy kills bad guys!! A lone hero!! Great action scenes massive amounts of devastation and explosions and cool kills as Butler does his job as ex Special Forces turned presidential guard, if you love the original two die hard movies and under siege movies then this is a must, its oldschool in every way, great fun, very entertaining!!!! Director Antoine Fuqua has done some fine movies over the year but this is his best along with training day!! There are some good features on the here too, gag reel and a few featurettes of behind the scenes!!!

Outstanding Action Movie In The Die Hard Mould

It has been a lean couple of years for movies. So many sequels and 12 certificate comic book movies dumbed down to feed the masses. This film reminded me of the Steven Seagal types, the few good ones (Under Siege, Executive Decision), with brilliant action and effects, a very good cast and a great pace throughout. From the opening, when the terrorists brutally attack Washington DC, to Gerard's Butler's attempt to infiltrate the Whitehouse, this has superb action, effects and tension throughout. It reminded me of Under Siege, Die Hard, Executive Decision etc. So glad to see a film I want to buy, rather than the amount of average nonsense that has been out lately. Implausible, OTT, maybe, but this is real popcorn entertainment, good actors, special effects from the top drawer. Superb.

 Awesome!!

This is a fab film!! I didn't expect much, maybe thats why l ended up enjoying it so much. A tad far fetched possibly but who cares! I didn't think the plot was too bad at all. Ok, it wont win any Oscars but if you enjoy a good action flick then you will love this film! Tip Top fight scenes from start to finish and Gerard Butler played the role well. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can highly recommend!!

 Brilliant, what a film
