If on one night every year, you could commit any crime without facing consequences, what would you do?

In a near-future America, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which all criminal activity, including murder, becomes legal: the Purge. On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family is tested to see how far they will go to protect themselves when the vicious outside world breaks into their home.

 NOT a horror

this film is not a horror it is a thriller.

and a very good one at that.

plot
its the near future and every year american conduct an annual "purge" to cleanse people souls of there anger and hatred by making all crime legal for 12 hours in one night.it follows the family of a security firm owner who are trying to get through the night without incident when all goes south.

Acting
decent acting from all the cast but Rhys Wakefield 100% stole the show with his very polite well mannered attitude but its so underlined with malice its an unsettling joy to watch

a good suspenseful movie for a pretty cheap price

 So Dissapointing

I was so disappointed with this film, has a ridiculous plot, why would you go around killing people on a night where all crime is legal, why not rob a bank. so predictable, it was like a cheesy horror from the 80's truly shocking. one good tense scene with an axe and that's 5 minuetes long. they've tried to be like 'The Strangers' with the creepy masks and all, home invasion, all the methods of so called 'horror' have been used before, beyond me how it made it into the theatre's, it was trash. please don't waste your money, its cheesy and corny and you will be disappointed, I was expecting a really good thriller horror and all I got was people prancing around on camera with knives for 90% of the movie. Awful.
