This is a great box set for any fan of the nightmare on elmstreet series, and unlike the other ones it also has special features on it,
The first nightmare as most people have said is a horror classic and it is what started the whole franchise and the worlds love for freddy kruegar and the dream world,
The second one was absolutley pants in my oppinion., they changed the way things worked and that let the whole film down aswell as the cheesey acting,
The rest of the films were great although a new nightmare was a slight let down due to the story line but i will not ruin it for you,
The thing that makes ths box set so great is the price and also the features that you get, the only thing that lets it down is the fact that there isn't Freddy V Jason it,
If anyone likes A nightmare on elmstreet then I highly recommend that you get this box set, and if you really like it then check out the clothes and gadgets section on this website for more things Kruegar :)
A great Horror set

The first nightmare is a horror classic and is the best in the series, part 2 wasn't bad but wasn't a classic horror, part 3 is the best sequel and was very inventive, part 4 was alright, part 5 wasn't the best but not bad and part 6 and 7 were terrible, but overall a great horror collection boasting a great horror icon, Freddy Krueger.
Starts good, but then, OH DEAR

Well what can say bout these films. The first is brilliant an all time classic nothing else to say bout that film, then the second i think is nearly as good as the first but the third i think is the best of the lot, only cus Heather Langenkamp is back in this one and she was good in the first one but in this one she is even better. There is'nt many films as good as the origanal but this is one of them. Believe me the first 3 are classics, but then, OH DEAR DEAR ME Elm street 4, 5 and 6 are absolute rubbish they should have stopped at number 3 but as always some daft director decided to bring him back and spoil the first 3 films and make 3 rubbish sequels. But one good thing that came out of all this is Wes Cravens New Nightmare, only cus yet again Heather is in it playing herself, its not a bad film and quite well made, daft in places but good. It makes up for the sequels before it that spoiled the series of films. Overall though with a rating out of 10, the first 3 films id give 10 the next 3 id give 2 then the last one, and i hope it is the last, id give 8.
A great horror collection, shame about extras though!!

A great collection of films for a great price and whilst it could have been better (the lack of extras for example), this at least contains all of the Nightmare films including Wes Cravens New Nightmares. The only Freddy film it doesn't contain is Freddy Vs Jason, but as that is a cross over film it is understandable that it should be classed as a film in its own right and not included.
I have reviewed these films separately so if you would like to know more information about them please go to my other reviews. However to recap I would class the films as the following out of 5 (to save confusion I have used the subtitle of each film):
A Nightmare on Elm Street5
Freddy's Revenge4
Dream Warriors3
The Dream Master4
The Dream Child2
Freddy's Dead3
New Nightmares4
A couple of things to mention though, as indicated earlier there are very few extras on these discs with some not containing any at all which, given the popularity of these films and the passion of the fans, it is very disappointing. Even something as simple as a character bois or who does Freddy kill in each film would have been an improvement. The second thing to note is that in America there is an 8 disc version of this box set which, amongst other things, contains a load of facts from the series.
Still the box set does just about deserves a 4 for the quality of the films and for having them all present. If it had of had some decent extras then it would have been even better, still it is a great way to catch up on a horror series that defined a new wave of horror in the 80s.

The first Elms street is the greatest horror of the 80's. It spawned six sequels and the ultimate horror icon !
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 1984
Wes Cravens original and by far the best.
This is the ultimate horror of the 80's, Freddy stays in the shadows and is still very scary. A classic !
*****
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2 1985
This is a weak sequel, and is a very simple possesion story. Although there are still some very spooky moments and a very good music score, also Freddy at this point was still very scary.
**
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3 1987
This is almost as good as the original, this is a very imaginetive horror. Freddy comes out of the shadows, and this time he is much stronger. The film is let down by very poor acting.
****
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4 1988
This is again full of imagination, but is just a re-run of part 3, also Freddy at the time had become such a icon, that they stopped making him scary. Also the acting is as just as wooden as part 3
***
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 5 1989
This time Freddy wants to be a Daddy !
very silly very confusing, Freddy becomes a comedy character. Also a very stupid cartoon super Freddy sequence.
**
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 6 1991
They saved the least till last !
Pathetic ! nothing works, Freddy is just a clown. Terrible story, and a pathetic ending, that in the cinema they made 3D out of desperation, no 3D ending in this crap disc version, just actors pointing thing at you.
A low point in the series
*
WES CRAVENS NEW NIGHTMARE 1994
At last Freddy is back to being scary !
A very original take on the Freddy story.
This is a mixed bag in film quality, but the series changed the face of horror movies. This is a Box-set that no horror fan should do without. A Excellent buy !

Only get this boxset if you really really like freddy kruger. If you love the first one you would be better getting the special editon, why. Because the other films in this boxset really aren't that good. Two is just dire, Three is slightly better but no where near as good as one, Four is awful so is Five and as for six, well it's in 3D enough said. The only other film to come out with any credability is the last one A New Nightmare which proves that Wes Craven was the only one who could make a film about Kruger. For the price yes it's a good deal but at the end of the day i don't think it's a boxset you'll come back to very often. So the three stars are for the first one, which would get five if it were the special editon, and the last one. As a fan of boxsets this is the first time i've said by the single editions instead.
1, 2 Freddy's coming for you!

This boxset is excellant, it has all the Nightmare on elm street movies 1 - 6 including the 7th installment, Wes Cravens Nightmare. I love films like this, as they are both scary and funny at times. The first movie is the best one to watch but the others are great as well! The deaths are hilarious, death by comic books, video games, Tvs, and all due to the cause of the maniac killer glooved slasher who wears a christmas sweater. Each film has its differences in storyline, characters and deaths which is good. This boxset is a deffinant must have and for £16.99 its a great deal. So buy this boxset, you wont be disappointed.

The first one introduces us to the maniacal child killer freddy krueger aka "Pizza face"
Freddy's distinctive mark is his "glove" which has a razor on each finger and is very deadley.
In the first one freddy was scary beyond belief his sarcastic tone was hardley seen and was just plain evil
In the second one everyone excpected the same interpritation in which he had been in the first one, instead his sarcatic humour was raised up and he just wansnt the man in your dreams anymore.
the sequels 6 sequels into and you get the feeling it's more funny and less scary.
there a a few scary stuff though in the sequel's like The backstory of freddy's mother amanda who appear's int the second and fourth film.
The deaths are inventive ie: death by Videogame, Tv, syrianges, skeleton, comics and so on....
this is one hell of a series and not pushing to much with the gore it seem's a fairley decent box set.
a must have for any horror fan.
sleep tight...
