The Director's Cut: too terrifying to be shown in the cinema!

Overnight the world has become a living nightmare of surreal proportions, with the planet's population hit by an inexplicable, unfathomable and lethal plague - and the dead aren't dying. Corpses yearning for their next meal are now stalking the few remaining survivors, driven by their insatiable hunger to feed upon the flesh of the living!

After a terrifying escape from her suburban Wisconsin home on the morning after, Ana Clark runs into a small group of the still-living, a rag-tag group who seek refuge in a fortress of the late 20th Century - an abandoned suburban mall. As the world outside grows more hellish, as the ever-increasing army of decomposing zombies tirelessly strive to infiltrate the mall, the survivors battle the undead. Sealed off from the rest of what used to be the world, the mall's inhabitants, now one of the last bastions of humanity, must learn to co-exist with each other and use every available resource in their fight to remain alive, and more importantly, human...

Great film. For all you people criticizing it for being a poor remake, the director wasnt even aiming to create a remake, he wanted a few of the original elements (eg the mall obviously) but wanted to create a different movie. If you watch in the extras "Surviving the Dawn" it explains this. The news broadcast in the extras was soo funny, made me laugh so much. Great film, worth adding to your collection.

In my opinion you can never out do a classic, but i think this remake matched it. If your looking for a scare the original won't really do it (for me at least) but this i have to say is the best zombie movie made seeing as the zmbies now are getting more and more ridiculous. Dawn of the Dead didnt try anything fancy they left it alone thank god and didn't butcher the original. If you like zombie films this is a must for anybody who loves them as much as me.

Can´t deny the fact that this film was entertaining, but too many flaws prevents this one to be nothing more than a forgettable remake. First mistake was to bring more characters in than there was at first in the mall (there´s no time to root for anyone, and really you don´t even want to, not with these folks), second was making the zombies sprint like dogs at a race track. One dimensional characters, bad humor and way too much slow motions (withdraw them and you have 80min movie in your hand - little exaggerated, yes, but not that much). Not the worst of remakes, and worth a look for those who enjoy their "horror" movies with nothing more than gore and lots of action.
