This film is the most amazing film i have ever watched. I liked it so much that i looked for the tape that i had for it for 2 years and then found it. Its a great watch with gore and horror round every corner and alot better than the original. Definatly worth a buy for fans and newcomers.

The original movie was is a all time classic, it is perfect in every way (apart from the blue painted zombies) To hear they would mess with a classic, was poinless ! Unless that is, it is made like this ! The plot is updated but this is a brilliant assault on your senses, gone are the slow moving Dead, in are pumped up Rabid Zombies. From the start, the film has a very different feel, The early signs of impending doom are handled well with the hospital scene, then the morning comes and all hell is let loose! The film never misses a beat, the shocks come thick and fast, and so do the exploding heads! also watch the end credits as you will see what happend to the survivors after they escape from the shopping mall. The film has shocking brutal violence, well written characters and is very well acted, and most of all scary An excellent remake of the excellent original, that no zombie fan should be without.
TRULY AWFUL

this film ruined the whole concept of the zombie genre because the zombies could run (Only 28 days could pull this off) and all the intelligent characyers from th original were gone leaving a bunch of dumb idiots i couldund wait to see die. If your looking for a good zombie horror watch the original dawn of the dead(1978) and the othher romero films instead of these awful remakes
QUALITY HORROR

This movie is excellent, expecially as far as remakes go. The gore is done very well and the acting is great (a good performance from ving rhames). It doesn't however better the original, but is still a cut above a lot of the horror drivel being needlessly pumped out by studios looking to make a quick buck (most of the asian horror remakes pretty much, the ring was ok though). Zack snyder shows a real visual style and fast paced action, blood and brains will keep you amused for the duration.
A VERY GOOD REMAKE

Really this remake shouldn't exist, the original is near perfect so it was strange that somebody thought they could remake a classic. However Zack Synder has taken this film in a completely different direction to the original. It is so much more fast paced and action packed and it really does does benefit from this new interpretation of George A. Romeros classic.
I really love the opening of this film, when the female lead of the film (Sarah Polley) wakes up to find a child zombie biting the neck of her husband. Then, of course the husband is going after his wife and she then attempts to escape. Its really good stuff.
A must see in my opinion, if you love zombie films like I do. You will LOVE this film.

I am a massive Zombie fan and have been since I saw Peter Jackson's Braindead at the age of 7 years of age. Dawn of the Dead (original) is my favourite movie of all time. I couldn't work out at first why I hated this movie so much... but I think I know now... the reason the original is so good is that it allows you to get to know the characters and you feel something when they each die. I felt that there were too many characters in this film and many written in so they could have a sex scene or just another person to kill off. And for me... it's slow zombies all the way! There is something so eerie about the fact that you don't know the zombie is creeping up behind you... you certainly can't miss one running at you can you? I feel that the only similarities to the original are the fact that it's set in a shopping mall... to be honest you didn't have to call this a remake... it should have been called 'Mall of the Dead' and classed as a completely different film. I just didn't like it... but each to their own...
Excellent zombie movie!

One of the best modern zombie movies out there and I've seen my fair share! I don't often watch a movie more that 2-3 times but this is a definate keeper.
The movie manages to keep a realistic edge that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
One of the best

Without a doubt this is is one of the best zombie movies out there. The 1978 version is well overrated for what it is and this film is scary enough to want to hold a pillow in front of your face. Just the thought of a fast moving zombie chasing you down to tear you apart scares me more than one that will stumble after you.
Buy this movie! You won't regret it!
good film

This 2004 version of dawn of the dead was a good movie but not even close to the 1978 version that george a romero directed zombies do not run they walk if your a real fan of zombie movies you'll know that the original is the best i recomend if you havent seen the original movie that you watch it this dawn of the dead version is worth buying but it a movie that you will only watch once the original 1978 version never gets boring if your a fan you'll watch it over and over again if you like gore and action then the 2004 version is for you.
I have to admit from the off that I've never been a huge fan of the Romero original. I'm a big fan of horror films but it just doesn't capture the little voice in my head that says "Shoot it in the head, chop off it's head, destroy the brain..."
Ahem...
I'm also wary of remaking films as I've seen plenty of awful ones and only a handful that can sit alongside the original with any dignity.
After all that I'll say that I think this is a great, balls-to-the-wall horror film. Not really scary, more of an action film really. It has "fast" zombies, which I like as a nastier alternative to the traditional slow variety. Plenty of stuff for gun fetishists as well. There are sooo many close-ups of gun barrels and bullet casings falling to the floor that it sometimes feels like an ad for the NRA.
Good cast, worthy of mention are Ving Rhames and Sarah Polley.
As a 2 discer the extras are a slight. The commentary is ok but I would have liked one of those 2 hour monster documentaries covering every aspect from writing to release. Zack Snyder (the director) has since gone on to 300 and is now in the midst of filming the greatest comic to ever be written, Watchmen, so fingers crossed he doesn't **** it up.
