These two DVDs are excellent. Dream Theater live performances come from Images and Words Live in Tokyo, Uncovered, Unpluged, Once in a LIVETime, and the Waking up the World and Touring into Infinity Tours.
Both discs start just a little slowly, I think, with a few not quite so good songs at the beginning. When they get going, however, they contain such beauty it boggles the mind. My personal Highlights are the Music Videos Take the Time and Another Day, the Medely of Surrounded and Wait for Sleep (two of my fave songs, both made better and stuck together,) The usage of Puppies on Acid as an Intro to Take the Time, The non-Album song To Live Forever, the Wonderful medely of Cover My Eyes (non-Album,) Lifting Shadows off a Dream, Anna Lee, and a softer version of To Live Forever, which is shot from the lovely Unplugged gig, and finally, the briliant Peruvian Skies melded with bits of Learning to Live, the Crimson Sunset from Change of Seasons, and the first few chords of a Fortune in Lies. And don't forget YTSEJam with a Drum Solo.
All in all, a brilliant selection of beautiful music.
Not all of it is amazing, though, Damage Inc cover with the singer from Napalm Death I actually skipped over after a minute or so, and the Under a Glass Moon performance is quite shocking. Also surely Dream Theater contains some of the ugliest people ever to live.
I don't need to mention the songs and how lovely they are, the band or how good they are, or LaBrie's voice and how beautiful it is, you know all this if you read my reviews of the DT albums from which nearly all these songs come. I've reviewed them all.
