Shrek: Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) is searching for a wife. Because of a complicated situation he needs a mate so he can qualify as king of the land. The 3-foot-tall despot has already banished all the fairy tale characters from his land, resulting in a diaspora of familiar bedtime figures.
Shrek (Mike Myers) and the obnoxious Donkey (Eddie Murphy) factor in when Farquaad concludes that he needs dragon-slaying assistance. The woman he wants is the beautiful Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz), who's imprisoned in a castle by said dragon. To cut a deal to keep his house, the antisocial Shrek accepts the mission, except he falls in love with the princess he's been ordered to find!
Shrek 2: Princess Fiona's parents invite their daughter and her new husband Shrek to her homeland of Far Far Away in order to celebrate their marriage. However, there's more than meets the eye in this fairytale kingdom and Shrek & Fiona are about to stumble into some rather awkward social situations!
Featuring an all-star cast providing the voices and a whole host of classic new characters in the enchanting Shrek story, this is one animated film for all the family that you'll want to watch again and again!

I love all of the Shrek movies! They really are entertaining and the graphics are wonderful too. I find Donkey really comical in this and the relationship between him and Shrek is soooooooo amusing! A fairy tale Shrek with a happy ending each time! Brilliant.
Timeless family fun.

I've loved the first Shrek since it came out and think the second one measured up well to it. Despite seeing them both several million times the gags are still great, even now at 18 years of age. The cast are great too and fit into their characters brilliantly, particularly Eddie Murphy's donkey. And once more it's something which people of all ages can enjoy, from tots to OAPs.
I haven't seen the third installment yet but most of the reviews for it seem rather negative, so I don't think I'll bother wasting my money on the trilogy boxset for now. At under £7 for the first two gems however you can't go wrong!
