who doesnt want to watch this? a great show im thankful that came on to DVD.. A must buy surely.
A brilliant array of characters, from the tedious Calum Gilhooley to the nice family, the Stoneybridge village council to Frank Hovis, this is a release I have also been waiting and waiting for. I have the 2 vid-e-o compilations that were released in the early 90s, and the show is as funny now as it was when it first aired almost 20 years ago. This is definitely the only sketch show that comes even close to Python in terms of brilliance. Now all we need is a release of the spin off sitcom Mr Don and Mr George and I'll be as happy as Tabby, the Stoneybridge cat.
what can i say....this comedy sketch show is the finest,funniest thing i have i ever seen in all my 37 years....rather poignant too as my wife was in labour 17 years ago and at the time this show followed vic reeves big night out and even though she was in pain with contractions she/we still refused to set off to the hospital until these two shows had finished!....there is no...i repeat no bad characters in this sketch show...everyone is amazing from the little girl up to mr don and mr george...macglashan with his rants about the english,the terminal depressing callum gilhooley and denzil and gweneth's mickey take out of welsh language programs..i quote.."dr willseeyounow says you are what you eat,so you have obviously been eating something very stupid"...i simply can not wait for release day of this box set....
I really loved this and so underrated.
I might have never known his ever existed being born in 1993 and has never or rarely been repeated or never placed in "Scottish Comedy"section in DVD shops. I like it's a rare good Scottish comedy I cringe at Rab c Nebitt, still game it's OK. Absolutely is a close second to Scotch & Wry.
My favourite characters are Don & George and hoping there spin off programme gets released.
Its a shame that Jack Docherty & Moray Hunter didn't go on and do more TV work together.When ever I mention I like Absolutely, people say "Oh the program Jennifer Saunders is in" mistaking it with Absolutely Fabulous.
