  Life In The Fast Lane!

*Gia is a fascinating yet very sad film about the fashion model Gia Carangi. Bearing in mind this was made for Television its an okay production. Gia will also gain a few fans due to the adult scenes featuring Angelina Jolie!
*The downside to Gia was the feel of the Production. There was a chance to make a great show but it felt more like a Daytime Tragic Life Film rather than something with the style of the Sopranos or The Wire. At times it felt a little rushed and a little cliche.

Shocking life of Gia Marie Carangi

Very sad film about americas first super model Gia.
Made from the people who knew her and also her journal. It tells of her life how she got started in the modeling world, her drug abuse, her relationship with the love of her life makeup assistant Sandy Linter, and finally her sad death due to AIDS.
This movie does contain some lesbian sex scenes as described in a previous review but it was all part of her life so the movie wouldnt be telling you the whole truth about her life if they were left out, and they are done extremely tastfully so no worries about sleezyness.
This movie is bound to shock you and touch your heart at the same time!!!!

Angelina Jolie depicts the life of a girl called Gia perfectly. The film is quite a slow grower and will take some time to get into but after a while it has you gripped. It shows you the frailty and the insecurities even the most tough seeming of people have. A love story and a personal struggle harmonizes thoughout the film, occasionally colliding with each other at parts. Some of Gia's decisions will leave you quite confused, and quite honestly deflated, but that is what makes her such a unique and exceptional person.

Very visual film which captured the life of Gia wonderfully.
However, I disagree with a previous review of there being too much lesbian sex as there was only one scene, which was not worthy of an '18' rating.
'Gia' is a sad and moving film but you cannot resist watching it to the very end.

As a whole, this is such an emotional, consuming film, and Angelina Jolie gives an amazing performance.
However, I hate to sound like some moany pensioner, but I wasn't expecting as much lesbian sex as there was in this film, and I wonder whether it was really needed. Whilst certain scenes capture the emotion, or highlight a certain situation, others just seem to have been thrown in to please the blokes. Maybe I'm just being cynical.
The documentary style of the film, with Gia's 'friends and family' (actually the actors) was slightly confusing at first, but after a while just added to the emotion of the film.

  Simple pleasures

Based on the true story of a young supermodel who tastes the excesses of New York life and pays the ultimate price, this film is a powerful piece of work. However, most people will watch it because Angelina Jolie gets her kit off. Several times.
