Seen the first Appleseed? Then you'll definetly want this. If not, it doesn't matter. The story line is great and easy to follow, there's enough flashbacks for those who haven't seen the first one and the Anime is brilliant. You need this!

As someone who had been waiting for ages for this to finally get released, I have to say having watched it through twice now the experience was somewhat underwhelming. The CG is certainly done very well, and in a lot of places looks spectacular, but the story is a bit dull and the dialogue quite stilted and unnatural. I'm sure this wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that you can't listen to the original Japanese language track - just the English dub - which I can't understand why and definitely detracts massively from the release. If they'd included that I'd have given the film an extra star at least, but as it is you're better off renting this than buying it.
