I saw this for the first time 20 odd years ago on an old pal - pan and scanned video tape.This can drag in places but still a worthy watch as main character leads give wonderful performances.This dvd is a real step up in quality compared to video but it is a shame that it was not released in an uncut 18 rated version - this has had 6 seconds cut due to animal cruelty, namely a horse fall.This also had a further 22 seconds cut towards the climax of the film involving a rape scene and extreme violence - the 22 seconds of cuts was would you believe was imposed by the releasing company and not by the bbfc.Even with the 28 seconds of cuts this is still a great looking time waster.If you want to see the full UNCUT version with all the re-instated scenes get either the now difficult to obtain German release or the Lionsgate Region 1 dvd - this is your best option as it is in the correct widescreen ratio (2:35.1) anamorphic,totally uncut and looks simply stunning.
