Run. The truce is ending.

M. Night Shyamalan's 'The Village' finds the renowned writer-director crafting a suspenseful story of a small community whose inhabitants are plagued by fear of the unknown forest that surrounds them. For years, they have kept a truce with mysterious creatures in the woods by vowing never to breach a clearly defined border. However, when a young man (Joaquin Phoenix) becomes determined to explore the nearby towns, his actions are met with menacing consequences.

Its not a horror its a love story with dark undertones

I think most people were disapointed with this film due to the way it was advertised as a horror. But if you look at all of M Night's movies they are all about nornal people dealing with normal problems in extraordinary situations. Unbreakable is about a man dealing with his broken marriage and his relationship with his son, and feelings of discontent because he's not doing what he thinks he's supposed to be doing, the fact that he is indestructable is mearly a plot device and not the underlining theme. Signs is about a ex-priest coming to terms with his faith after his wife is killed in an accident and being strong for his family, the alien story is just a backdrop for this story. The Village is no different, this is not a horror story with a cheap relationship thrown in for a bit of depth, it is a love story set in a dark world. Just because people don't get it doesn't mean its not a good movie. No one saw the final twist coming and although i admit i was disapointed when realising what was going on i definitely didn't realise it until it happened. This is about a woman facing her fears of the unknown for the man she loves. It is a little dull and drawn out but then i think that gives it the oldy worldy atmosphere that it is set in. My advice to anyone thinking about watching this is to forget about the monsters in the woods and focus on the relationship between the two young people as well as the different kinds of love explored with the other characters and the lengths people will go to protect their loved ones. You may find a very well thought out movie that can challenge how far you care for those around you

 Nothing to get excited about

I sat through this at the cinema and was very tempted to get up and leave, in fear that I would fall asleep.
For me the film lacked any interesting points, the initial plot was nothing special, and the ending was a huge let down in my opinion.
I wouldn't recommend it.

Great Film I guess you love it or hate it !

I love this film!! The story is intricate and emotional, with all the actors giving a superb performance. I really like how you can pause the film at any second, and that image could be made into a poster- it's all so beautiful.
As long as you don't go into it thinking it'll be a horror movie full of action, you'll love it.
