Metallica. That word has metal in. So you'll forgive me for asking the next question. Why is there no hint of metal in this film? If they wanted to do a film about the making of an album, why choose st anger? It's rubbish! Some kind of monster sees metallica having therapy sessions with a man in a pink jumper, destroying dave mustaine and generally doing nothing much else. Ok, i understand there may have been some problems between the guys but a therapist? Come on! This is supposed the be the biggest and meanest metal band on earth, when they discuss their feelings they should do it in a song with heavy metal in the background, not with a man wearing silly clothes, and they certainly shouldn't have filmed it and put on dvd. That's like playing russian roulette by yourself. Then we see james check himself into rehab for alcohol problems, and then a meeting with former guitarist dave mustaine is arranged to discuss their feelings again. I must explain the reason mustaine was kicked out after kill em all was for alcohol problems so is not a trifle unfair for hetfield not to turn up because he's in rehab for alcoholism? It's really saddening to see mustaine pour his heart out like that; talking about how envious he is of metallica when megadeth are awesome!!!! And have more albums out than metallica, and i'm guessing more fans. And of course like said, when they aint in therapy, they're...not doing anything actually. Sorry but when you have as many fans and records as they do, you don't fanny about doing nothing, you work hard to get an album out and tour it, then you do it again, not sit in an old army barracks waiting for an album to fall out your mouth. It's ridiculous, metallica have documented themselves being lazy disappointing. And a note to lars ulrich: The song starts at the start and ends a t the end.

By the end, you wish you could just have a big fat group hug with Metallica and say to them 'I love you guys'

Since seeing this documentary my appreciation for Metallica has grown and I never thought I could feel such great respect for people who I've never actually met. I was overwhelmed by this film and felt sad, happy, sympathetic, then crying sad...basically it's pretty deep.
The Special Features are loaded (on disc 2) and equally entertaining as the feature.

This is a great documentary, very interesting to watch how they made St. Anger., and what happend during the recording of St. Anger. The band gets a therapist to solve issues within the band, Lars sueing Napster, the fights James and lars have while kirk is telling 'em there's no point in fighting, and it shows when Lars and Dave Mustaine( Lead singer of Megadeth) meet to talk about past issues. Metallica fans deffinetly should buy this if they hate st. anger still after watching this documentary you'll hink differently about the album. In my opinion i thought st. anger was an awesome album. Metallica fans this is a must have.

Only when seeing this do you see the true insides of metallica. From the hatrid between lars and james through to the slightly wimpy "can't we all just get along" moanings of kurt. Either way this shows the whole saga of the making of their "back to their roots" album and is truely mind blowing. If you like metallica or just like good music in general this is a must watch!!
