This film is a masterpiece of a film. Frank castle ( lead character ) his family get killed in a mob hit with him being in the hit as well as his family. The mob are convinced he is dead well he is not lol. And you are hanging onto your seat all the way its great. The head of the mob is john travolta and is very very evil. Im not gonna give a way any more of the plot Just ! GET IT !

This film got slated quite badly by movie critics upon release but being a comic book fan i was going to watch it anyway, and i just don't know what film they were watching because it sure wasn't this.
The acting is very good all around (especially the brooding Thomas Jane) the plot follows the comic book version closely with the exception of moving the setting to florida, and the action while not being non-stop is plentiful and never over the top.
Maybe it could have been a little more violent what with an 18 certificate anyway, the torture scene is a great concept and very amusing even though the Punisher in the comic would actually use the blowtorch, but that's a small criticism in a very enjoyable film that was made on less than a third of the budget of Spider-Man 3.

Wicked film. Everything a action film needs, this has. I can't wait for The Punisher War Zone. But I think it'll be let down because Tom Jane won't be in it.

This marvel comic translation to film portrays The Punisher, bent on exacting revenge on those who murdered his family and ripped his life apart, and who no longer has any emotion or life left for himself. John Travolta excels again as the bad guy, and the no nonsense approach to this film is anything but of a typical comic book- great watch.

AMAZING!!! bad reviews on this i dont know how it did , its better than the hulk and x-3 and money spent this on this ..it had a good story kept to the comics its dark , graphic what more could you want ..only one bad point is thomas jane he played it ok but he turned down the sequel to bad script ...look thomas you not a great actor and your not going to get many other movies ......overall a fantastic movie and we have angel from x-3 and mystique from the x-men in it :L

OK it's a very good film but unfortuntly John Travolta is in it. What a shame. that makes this film harder to watch. John is such a bad actor hate to get in his plane. Hope he's a gud pilot. Doubt it. Buy it though it's a enjoyable film with alot of action but with John being in it what a waste of talent.

Lovin this film !! John travolta plays a twisted crime lord exelently and tom jane performs the role of punisher well! the reason ive given it 4 satrs however is that theres a piticularly graphic torture scene which had me cringing :S:S:S:S

now for just one minute forget that this is a superhero dvd and look closely at the real story a man whose family is slaughtered and the takes vengeance on the killers there is a good reason why this film is an 18 lots of violence blood its thats why you should forget about this being a marvel film because i think its a good old fashioned revenge film that rely on cgi its a raw film with a powerfull story theres even a bit of humour put as well i love this film i think the cast is great thomas jane should be labled the next action hero his performance is solid next is john travolta he really plays his role well as the vilian definatly one to watch have a good view

Ignore what negative press this has had-I enjoyed this film more than any of the flashy xmen films. instead of relying on big budgets and special effects, the punisher focuses on one mans struggle of suffering, planning and revenge. theres some great action and set pieces and the characters are superb, especially tom jane as frank castle. the whole film is hugely enjoyable from start to finish and contains humour aswell as believable and realistic action. ignore the members review above and buy this now. massively recommended!
