Behind every great love is a great story.

Adapted from Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel, and directed by Nick Cassavetes (the son of legendary director John Cassavettes).

A sweeping love story told by a man reading from his faded notebook (James Garner) to a woman in a nursing home (Gena Rowlands - real-life mother of Nick Cassavetes). 'The Notebook' follows the lives of two North Carolina teens from very different worlds (Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams). Though her upbringing takes place in an antebellum mansion, and he grew up in the kind of house where musicians strum on the porch, that doesn't stop Noah and Allie from spending one incredible summer together, before they are separated, first by her parents and then by WWII.

After the war is over, everything is different. Allie is engaged to a successful businessman, and Noah lives alone with his 200-year-old house that he lovingly restores. But, when Allie reads a newspaper article about Noah's handiwork. She knows that she's got to find him, and make a decision once and for all about the path her life - and her love - must take...

The best romantic film out there to be honest. Beautiful and elegant, a superb film. But will need a box of tissues throughout.

Sweet movie, and not just for the ladies!

James Garner & Gena Rowlands made me cry. There... I said it. A touching movie, if you like that kind of thing. Good for a Sunday afternoon snuggled on the sofa.

Wait, did I just say 'snuggled'? There is no hope for me...

 Jesus.

Seriously, I'm afraid not, absolutely not.
Yes, I am a guy,
Yes, I previously hated chickflicks,
No this didn't change my mind,
...Yes, one of my shirts has been ruined from a weeping girlfriend's eye-liner.
What I couldn't shake about this film is the plasticness of it, it's insincerity. Some Hollywood hack has just decided to make a super sad love story by hitting the audience with wave upon wave of cliche and and tried far too hard to make it sad, even dumping it's realism one point to just push those teary-eyed teenage girlfriends over the edge a little more. For God's sake everyone, shape up, this is awful.
If you like stuff like Rent, Pearl Harbour and Titanic, Go for it! You'll love it! However, if you like films, erase it from your memory now (no puns intended there Notebook fans by the way).

most beautiful & poignant Love Story I have ever watched

This film is absolutely beautiful. Its sensitive, moving & so well filmed. It really touches your heart (this may sound a bit corny but its true) and leaves a mark after you have watched it. If anyone has ever truly loved another person with all their heart and lost them (for whatever reason that may be) - you will identify with this film totally. It truly depicts proper and lasting love - even if two people cannot be together. Very true - if two people are meant to be together - they will end up together - just as in this film - regardless of the time apart and what happens in that time. True love is very rare - hence the beauty of this film as it captures just that! :O)

 Touching tale of true love

A story of a romance that would never work, they all said it'd never work, a rich girl and a poor dumb labouring man. The classic tale of money and near povety, the story of the strongest emotion we all feel... Love.
It's a well acted out movie, the two leads are fairly unknown actors but still manage to pull off this tale of love and romance. It's a touching story of true love, and that sometimes even when you believe the love and feelings are gone they're actually just resting.
It's a film that should be watched with your partner. Guys, sit down with your girlfriend/wife and watch this, its a one which will make your relationship even stronger.
It's not as much of a tear jerker as I expected but still, it gets the heart aching and makes you want to hold your love.
Recommended viewing for all the couples and lovers out there.
