If the signal dies so does she.
Though she's held captive, Jessica Martin (Basinger) manages to contact an unsuspecting young man (Evans) via his cell phone. As he becomes her only lifeline to thwarting the abduction of her young son, the good samaratin soon gets way more than he bargained for.
The story was created by director Larry Cohen (Q: The Winged serpent, The Stuff), who also worked on the script for Phone Booth.

It is not a particularly well known film and in fact failed to set the box office alight. The use of a mobile phone does guarantee that it will date quite rapidly but it is still a surprisingly effective and enjoyable thriller. There are few surprises but the charasmatic performance by Chris Evans helps propel the film along and William H Macey provides a nicely underplayed performance in his usually adept style. It is well worth a look.
