I regard this film as a definite purchase, the scenes, the layout, the idea, hell...even down to the colours they've got this one spot on. The idea that calligraphy and swordsmanship should be considered the same makes the film all the more special....
Plus its based on true events.
my fav movie

this is my fav movie, make sure you watch it on a big hd screen,(its a waste to watch this on a small screen) its the most scenic movie ever, it has a great storyline, good acting and some good martial art scenes. this movie is like the chinese pulp fiction, but replaces the comedy of pulp fiction with romance and other emotions. the movie was made by a chinese production company a few years ago however miramax bought it and re-released and i think quentin tarantino and others took credit for it...however they just bought the rights to it. or somethin like that
Beautifull and Mesmerising

when i first bought this and watched it i wasnt incredibly impressed, i merely enjoyed the fighting.
However, i feel as though my appreciation of films has developed alot since then and i watched it the other day, and i just thought it was incredible. The locations and images are amazing (e.g. in the autumnal forest, and the still lake near the end).
To my own suprise i also found the first fight ,between 'Nameless' and Sky, beautiful, it felt more like a dance between two people of complete understanding of one another.
I also read on the box right near the end that it was directed by Quentin Tarantino, and since he is my favourite director, this film has become one of my favourite in my collection - which i assure you is no mean feat.
Quality Film! Gets Better Everytime!

This Film is immense. It has a little bit of everything in it, Fighting/action, twists and turns, romance, strong characters, and a meaninful plot. This is a film for people who like classic chinese martial films, with great fight scenes and emotion.
It was very well cast, as all the characters were believable in their given roles.
It is a must buy for all the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House Of Flying Daggers fans and even for people who want to get into chinese martial arts films.
It really does get better everytime you watch it. Quality film.
Gorgeous

This film is stunning. The use of colour to convey emotions is visually stunning and cleverly used. The fight scenes between Donnie Yen and Tony Leung are outstanding . Maggie Cheung who plays Snow is perfectly cast as the courageous and feisty swordswoman. This is her first action role, but she is flawless on screen and was born to pick up a sword. This film is on par with Crouching Tiger and House of Flying Daggers. It's a must see.
A breathtaking movie

One of the most beautiful films ever made. stunning visuals and Martial Arts blended with a really good story that twists and turns.
Any Wuxia fans should lap this up! It's a must buy from the same director of House of Flying Daggers and The Recent Curse of The Golden Flower.
Ancient tale of courage and honour.

Jet Li's performance as a nameless soldier on a mission of revenge is compelling. The cinematography is amazing and stylistically this movie is one of the best ancient tales around. The fight scenes fit the philosophical stance of the movie very well but if you're expecting the usual Jet Li smash em up then you may be dissapointed. This film is for the thinker and if you accept that then it's a winner.
1 hour and 36 mintues of my life down the drain!

To be honest, this was a risk buy and I wish I hadnt taken it...I bought it buy just looking at the trailers and the reviews it had upon release but I think it is so dull and boring, and the storyline is far to mixed up for a simple minded fella like myself. The ony thing that got its two stars was the special effects, wirework stunts and the pretty colours!! Sorry.... but I think I'd rather watch Crouching Tiger for the hundredth time then watch this again!!
