The Bank Job is a highly-charged heist thriller based upon the infamous 1971 robbery that took place at the Lloyds Bank in Marylebone London.

Starring Jason Statham as Terry, a car dealer with a dodgy past and Saffron Burrows as Martine, the woman with the plan, The Bank Job interweaves corruption, murder and scandal with 1970s England!

When Martine offers Terry a lead on a foolproof bank hit on London's Baker Street, he recognizes the opportunity of a lifetime! The plan: to target a roomful of safe deposit boxes worth millions in cash and jewellery. However Terry and his crew don't realize the boxes also contain a treasure trove of dirty secrets - secrets that will thrust them into a deadly web of corruption and illicit scandal that spans London's criminal underworld, the highest echelons of the British government, and the Royal Family itself.

Despite a good story and an interesting cast there is nothing in the script to grab your attention. Statham is likeable and you are at least willing for his scheme to be a success, but there is nothing here to distinguish it from the many other heist movies out there.

This movie is well written, action packed with a bit of light hearted comedy to keep it from getting too heavy. This movie carries on with the tradition of Lock Stock, and a welcome return after the last few attempts. A couple of dodgy accents, but that's a very small issue. The film is in 2 parts, the first the robbery then as soon as that's done, then the action really kicks in. The fact that it's based on a true story makes it even better. Good entertainment

This film has had the story written to perfection and well thought out it mixes everything you need to have in a film to make it superb and the actors perform brilliantly in there roles, also it is based on a true story.

So if you are looking for a brilliant brutal film then i definatly suggest that you buy the Bank job as it goes down as a classic in my books.

Jason Statham is as good as ever in this brilliant British crime caper. The film is loosly inspired on actual events. and the film is a cracking good thriller, anybody who is a fan of Lock Stock and Snatch should enjoy every minute. The film is set in the early 70's and the direction by Roger Donaldson ( 13 Days, No way Out) captures the early part of the decade perfectly. Any body who was a fan of the superb 70's based Tv Drama Life On Mars should really get a kick out of this. The film rattles along a a brilliant pace, with moments of high tension, and a good number of sly laughs, as although based on true events the film never takes it's self too seriouse. This is one of the best British crime capers ever made, and could be hailed as the Italian Job for this decade.
This is a brilliant film, that is a joy to watch, it would be a crime to miss it!
