Daniel craigs finest hour.......or so!! Not so much a war film more a history film. The true story (as with many historic true stories that go uncredited) Is truly amazing, I didnt want it to end and was biting my lip to hold myself in check on a number of occasions. Fantastic acting, remarkable story and a tale that tugs your heart strings as well as reminding us of the sheer horrors man has commited on his fellow humans throughout history and a warning that we need to learn from it so it never happens again. Im glad a blockbuster film can help us never to forget. Will be buying this as soon as its available. Five stars all round!!!!!!!

Not just a good bond then!

People seem to forget that Mr.Craig had an acting career before he took on the role of Bond, and in this film he proves how good an actor he is. But he is not the only actor who played their designated character extremely well.Liev Schreiber and Jamie Bell gave outstanding performances as the other two Bielski brothers. The storyline was well held and always interesting, and the action scenes were excellently choreographed. Defiance tells a very moving and powerful story about the three brothers and their unbreakable bond, but also their spirited courage to fight back against the german troops that had already killed so many of their friends and family.I really enjoyed this film and did not expect it to grip me so much, great performances by all involved and an emotional piece of history if a little altered. All in all then a fine film!

 superbly intense and riveting throughout.

As heroism goes, not much thought is spared for those who resisted the eagle-like grip of the advancing German fleets in 1941. Defiance underlines the forever strong leadership of Tuvia Bielski, the eldest of the three Bielski brothers, determined to escape Poland. Tuvia, depicted by a disheveled and pallid Daniel Craig, leads an accumulated, 50 strong army of jewish refugees across the motherland. By 1944 the community grows in excess of 1200. Descendants of whom can still be found and are in their tens of thousands. It is an epic tail of hardship, harsh conditions, loss and Defiance.
The title of this film needs no explanation, only your attention.

The professional actors done their best with a very poor script and
production team, towards the end of the film I could not care less what happened to the people in the film. Which was a shame as I was looking forward to watching this.

War films are usually quite depressing to watch giving their subject matter and Defiance is no different; however this is a war film that unlike so many others, is infact a very good watch from start to finish with some outstanding performances, especially from the main stars Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber and Jamie Bell who play the Bielski brothers, three Jews who during the war helped several others to safety away from the Nazis.

While there are no amazing set-pieces (with a lot of the film being set within woodland) or film techniques like in Schindlers List, there is an amazing script based around a true story. As well as this some very impressive performances both from the major cast and those in the background (the fast growing star Mia Wasikowska (In Treatment) being brilliant in her supporting role) drive the film forward, while the side-story of the brothers separating over their choices of survival or revenge is also very tense and sad.

The opening montage of footage (real or otherwise) is also very shocking but the perfect way for setting the scene and the tone of the film. In all I am not usually a fan of war films, largely because of the subject and because some of the films that have been produced seem very dated. Defiance, however, like Schindlers List is a brilliant film that has a strong real story and some great performances. A very very good film that captures the relatively unknown story of the brothers and to think people said that Daniel Craig could not act!
