The Godfather: (1972)
Considered by many to be the greatest movie ever made, Francis Ford Coppola's epic masterpiece features Oscar winner Marlon Brando as the head of the Corleone family. Coppola paints a chilling portrait of a Sicilian family's rise and near fall from power in America, and the passage of rites from a father to a son who was previously uninvolved in the business.

Godfather Part II: (1974)
The Godfather Part II is one of the rare breed of cinematic sequels which is as good as, and perhaps better than, the original. Al Pacino heads the star cast as Michael Corleone, heir to the criminal empire established by his Mafioso father, the late Don Corleone.

Michael is now in charge of all gambling activities in Nevada, making certain that any and all political or mob enemies are quickly bought off, compromised, or disposed of. Throughout the film, Michael's travails are paralleled with the early experiences of his father, played in flashbacks by Robert DeNiro.

The Godfather III: (1990)
In the final instalment of the Godfather Trilogy, an aging Don Michael Corleone seeks to legitimise his crime family's interests and remove himself from the violent underworld.

Now in his sixties, Michael is dominated by two passions: freeing his family from crime, and finding a suitable successor. That successor could be fiery Vincent (Andy Garcia)... but he may also be the spark that turns Michael's hopes of business legitimacy into an inferno of mob violence.

What a fantastic Boxset. This is a Must for any Godfather fan & not only includes the original trilogy but tons of extras. As for the films themselves, 1 & 2 are 2 of The Greatest Films Ever Made. Although most people seem to dismiss 3, it's still worth seeing just to see what happens With Micheal Corleone (Al Pacino). Features 3 of the greats actors of any generation. Al Pacino, Robert De Niro & the late Marlon Brando. Highly Recommended.

Without a shadow of a doubt, The Godfathers (not so much Part III) are the best films ever made. Coppola managed to get most of his family in the trilogy at some point, and to reflect the fact it is about 3 generations of a Mafia family, Coppola has made it a Home (or Family) movie himoself. What you have, are intense and powerful gangster films, with all the connotations, menace and threat of violence without being as gratuitous as most in the genre.
Perfect cast, perfect script and perfect direction. Essential cinema. He who does not buy, will "sleep with the fishes."

 The Godfather Trilogy

Chronicling the lives of the Corleone family, Parts I and II are a true master class in film making. Part III, unfortunately, never quite reaches the same heights, but still adds a satisfactory if unneeded end to the trilogy. What really shines through out is the cast, from Brando to Pacino to De Niro, there are few films that can match this calibre on screen. Along with the remastered prints, included are a wealth of extra features, making this not only a truly indispensable set, but great value too.

 A "Family" Film

When I ordered the Godfather as an avid film fan I had heard of great it was. So when I sat down to watch it I thought it was going to a stereotypical portrayal of the Mob, but its not. It's not about gangsters and people getting whacked, its about a family, and there struggle. The greatest film ever made is an understatement
