Fooly Cooly: Naota has enough to deal with at home. His older brother went to the US to play baseball. And his father and grandfather never behave like normal adults. Not to mention his brother's girlfriend is now making advances on him. Plus there's a so called alien girl hitting on him. Literally. With a bass guitar. Oh, did we mention the robots that keep springing from his head.
Fire Starter: Hanging out by the river and playing with cars, no one would suspect that Mamimi is a girl with a dark past. She's been obsessed with the videogame 'Fire Starter'. Coincidentally, there's been a string of fires around town. Fires like the one that burned down the school 6 years ago, where Naota first met Mamimi. And if that's not enough, there's something growing inside Naota's head.

This anime is without a doubt one of the strangest animes I have ever watched and I have been into anime for about 4 years now. It's well worth a watch though (as the title suggests) if you love animes that break the mold and just seem to go wherever the hell they feel like.
Highly recommended to any anime fans out there

FLCL sets alot of high standards for the rampart pop culture genre of anime which at the moment is filled with surreal yet very serious anime.
This breaks the boring trend by having the main character hit people with a Rickenbacker 4003 bass guitar, along with a strange robot and the weirdest enemies ever encounted including a giant baseball from space.
The series is only 6 episodes long which is good, it means it doesn't out stay it's welcome but saying that they could've at least released it on one dvd or even two dvds.
To conclude this series is more like a big music video than an anime, the surrealness is so big that you need a guitar hero song in the background to better enjoy the experience
