I agree with below in the fact that K9 & Company may be a cool extra ONLY as I don't think 2 Entertain would release it as a single DVD. Besides two many copies are being sold as singles second hand which brings me to believe I am not the only one buying this purely for 'The Invisible Enemy' . As a Doctor Who fan and the Tom Baker era being in my opinion the 'Definative' it is a must buy, not the strongest Tom Baker story granted but nevertheless a must have. But do we have to have K9 and company on our shelves????? I think my copy will just be thrown into the back of the loft. I do love K9 and he was a huge part of the Tom Baker era but the story line just had me getting up and down to make coffee and toast for everyone. I hope they do release 'The Invisible Enemy' without it as it would be much more worth it.

I agree, I don't mind what order they release the stories, they'll all get released in the end... although even at 1 every month with around 65 stories in all still to release (not including any "lost" ones from the archives) that's about 5 and a half years to go until they're all on DVD...

I hadn't seen The Invisible Enemy before - the Graham Williams era isn't my favourite but am appreciating them alot more with every DVD release. Great innovative and different type of who story and villain (ok, it nicks from Fantastic Voyage) which is only let down by a few production values and the shrimp! Nice set of extras and alternate CGI effects and probably best to consider K9 and Company as a fun extra.

As usual Play's excellent value makes this set a star buy - but note that 'The Invisible Enemy' disc has a technical authoring fault in Episode Three (which involves skipping of scenes at the end of the episode), so it may be wiser to wait till this is rectified by '2-Entertain' before you buy this excellent set.

To contradict 'Spaceage' in an earlier review - 'Invisible Enemy' is not available seperately. This is its first release in this boxset with K9 and company.
You may be mistaking it with 'Invasion of Time'. Maybe not, but as someone who has all these DVDs, I can assure you that this is fact. 'Invisible Enemy' is also not yet listed to be released as a seperate title - have a look at play.com's own listings.

Two fun titles in a box - excellent value. Personally, I'm not bothered what order the series appears in - the fact we are now getting monthly releases is enough for me! It means we wont have to endure the 20year wait we had to go through for the VHS titles to be completed as at this rate - we will be done by 2010. Yay to that!!

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars It IS available separately!

TheLordMystigious, in an earlier review, bemoans the fact that he is forced to buy a boxset, when in reality, all he wants is The Invisble Enemy. This is actually available, and can be picked up for around a tenner, so if you aren't interested in K9 and Company, then that might be the choice for you. That said, even if the "K9&co" story isn't for you, then the copious amount of extras this boxset offers is more than compensation.

Another reviewer complains about the BBC releasing tie-in's; unfortunately, that's marketing for you, and what for one person is a bad story, for another, may be an all-time favourite. If the entire series is to be released, then staggering the stories so we get the "rough with the smooth", instead of all chocolate for a couple of years, followed by a dollop of continual drivel for the next few, then I'll take the staggered approach any day. Buying a story like "Web Planet" has the blow softened significantly if "Seeds of Doom" is next on the list! Speaking of which.. BBC? Hello? It's about time you released that story with the Krynoids in.. Seeds of something or another..!

I watched The Invisible Enemy when it was originally transmitted about 1977. It is an exciting adventure starring Tom Baker as The Doctor and Louise Jameson as Leela. It is also significent in that it was the first story to feature the robot dog K9! As I recall the stories featuring K9 worked firstly because they were well written and produced, and secondly because the humour was carefully rationed so as not to distract the viewer too much from the basic plot or flow of the production. I presently have The Invisible Enemy on VHS and the forthcoming DVD release with all the extras can only be better still.

Unfortunately my recollection of the spin-off K9 and Company does not inspire me to be so complimentary, and if it were offered for sale on its own I certainly wouldn't consider purchasing it.

Play.com's current price of £17.99 for the new release of this DVD boxset is of course excellent value if you want the whole package. However, it is a pity the two DVD's are not available seperately as I would be happy to pay £10-12 just for The Invisible Enemy on its own.

The Invisible Enemy, is a perfect example of Classic Doctor Who in the sense that its got great ideas and a fairly good story that's let down by the low budget. That said, K9 makes a good impact in his first story, and Leela and the Doctor work well together. On a side note, the Original "revamped" Tardis console room returns...

As for K9 and Company, oh dear, poor title sequence, a lack of K9, the only saving grace is Elizabeth Sladen, who manages to hold it all together, no wonder she was invited back...

Why does the BBC feel that the new series that is currently on have to dictate what stories get released.
Every release while the new series is on we get a tie - in story, this gets rather annoying i feel, cause we seem to get the less interesting episodes.

I'm looking forward to The Trial of a Timelord set which follows this DVD! (one ti-in i possible wont complain about)

1980 and forget xfiles. Its Sarah Jane and K9 investigating cult rituals.

This was a pilot for a tv series, alas the powers that be decided not to go further. It was ahead of its time.

27 years on and Both Sarah Jane and K9 have returned to Doctor who and a spin of series.

So for old and New fans this 80's Pilot is worth watching.

We also get The invisible Enemy, were the Doctors Brain is taken over and Leela and a proffesor have to help the Doctor rid him of the evil within his brain.

This show introduced K9. Who was suppose to be in the one show but the producers decided to keep K9 with the doctor.

A great espisode and adventure and glad to see the BBC putting more episodes back to back.

well worth the price and just a joy to watch
