best film i saw in the last 3 years, before iron man, wanted and hancock came out. MUST see.

This is by far the ebst film of 2008. (closely followed by there will be blood). people complain about the handheld camera angles, but ou get used to it as the film progresses. And it adds a certain feel to the movie, that you do not get with others.

This film is dreadful!
The idea of making a disaster/horror film seen through the eyes of average Joe blogs using a video camera is quite clever, but because they emphasize this so much with the jittering movements and out of focus shots, just so you don't forget!!. becomes really annoying and I was tempted to press the off button!

The opening scene at the party was just too long & really boring. I had absolutely no interest in any of the characters and was desperately hoping for things to improve...sadly they didn't!
I decided to persevere with the film but my views remained unchanged and the ending summed up the whole film...rubbish!

I am fed up with seeing films advertised as "block buster" and must see etc...only to be disappointed, in my opinion false advertising!

My advice... avoid, save your money & buy or rent something else.

This movie was absolutely awesome. The camera work was nothing short of stunning (including the moment when, in a moment of hysteria they are running full pelt and the camera flicks to the side just in time to see a massive foot stomp next to them!) and the non stop action has the heart pumping constantly. Not what I would really call a horror but definately one of the best Action flicks of '08! Me and my friends sat down to watch this, and where we usually have mini-conversations all the way through, we were all stunned into silence. Buy this movie!!!!!!!!!!

comsidering that this movie is supposed to be a virtual witness event it has little atmosphere and feeling of events being real is non existant. there are a few good effects but the overall film is very poor,acting is wooden and the plot thinnens. avoid total dross

taken off Blair witch (camcorder) a load of hysterical misfit teens running around like chickens shouting about nothing, then suddenly New York is under attack from some fleeting entity, more hysterics, then the army suddenly appears and starts shooting, teens run around, more hysterics, then the movie suddenly ends. No story, no conclusions, no good, waste of money.

There's no point in rambeling on about this so all i have to say is - THE BEST MOVIE OF 2008 GUARENTEED!!! - and i can still gaurentee it in November !!!!

luckily i didnt buy it but it could have been a good film ! by not being filmed through a camcorder "do away with the party scene "explanation of how the monster got here in the first place and give it a good ending "none of this happened so sorry but the best thing for the dvd is use it for a frizby "" and its prob no good for that either !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this was a daring attempt at individuality and it worked. not the best movie ever but entertaining and off beat. worth seeing.

seen this film at the cinema and on dvd and both times were brilliant people who complain about the shakey camera certainly seen the wrong film as from the out set adverts told us it was from a first person view. its there own fault if they went to see this film when they knew how it was filmed. Beside this the film and creature look amazing and the characters are well cast and played.
