Capitol Policeman John Cale (Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation's government falling into chaos and time running out, it's up to Cale to save the president, his daughter and the country.

White House Down was written by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, Zodiac). It was produced by Bradley Fischer (Black Swan, Shutter Island), Harald Kloser (2012, The Day After Tomorrow), James Vanderbilt, Larry Franco (2012, Batman Begins), and Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island), with co-producers Volker Engel (2012, Anonymous) and Marc Weigert (2012, Anonymous). I think its fine to enjoy this movie as much as Olympus even though they both share a similar story, white house down is very different in its set up and plays out in a different way, there is plenty of fun to be had with some cool effects and plenty of violence and action, both Foxx and Tatum are pretty cool actors and make it fun to watch, overall its not as good as Olympus has fallen but still a really great action movie, Olympus was more your under siege version and this is more your die hard version with some added puns and one-liners, maybe a tad possibly more cheesy but who cares, I cant say im very fond of any of Emmerich's movies but this is worth a watch for sure for pure fun and action!

 Utter tosh!

Really bad film especially after having watched Olympus has fallen. Too many silly quips and one liners along with an unbelievable plot. Check out "Olympus has fallen". Gerard Butler makes these two look like first graders out of acting school.
