The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

This film is a joy to watch. The animation is silky smooth, highly detailed without ever becoming busy, capturing bustling cityscapes, subtle interior shots and abstract visions of time travel with equal and consummate skill. This really is one of the best looking animes out there.
The score is gentle and distinctive and the voice acting (I can only speak for the original langauge version) is layered and life-like, thankfully free of the artificiality that too often mars animated features.
And the story? Superb, it starts off pleasantly and just builds, with characters properly fleshed out, with all the inter-dependent relationships and associations balanced beautifully, moving towards the excellent and satisfactory conclusion.

I bought this on a whim and haven't regreted doing so.

The artwork isn't for anyone if your not so much a fan of 'Neon Genisis Evangelion' and it does start off a little slow, but once the film gets going your sucked in and on two occasions I was crying. This film has a great array of characters, a plot that's so unique and brilliant and the artwork does grow on you.

I recommend buying this, its one of the best anime films ever.

This production is one of the best that I have seen, not only with regards to animation, but overall! Quickly and easily became a favourite. Very epic and extremely clever.

It consists of everything: comedy, romance, science-fiction, drama, and that is not to mention the amazing art and designs. It was a truely amazing movie, and it was made interesting to watch the wonderful events which occur be repeated over and over. It was very smartly made concerning time-travelling.

The characters are all greatly adaptable, as is the entire atmoshere of the film. It is a very happy and emotional film that has everything in it to make it an overall amazingly beautiful and heart-warming production.

Personally, this is the type of movie that I look for, but I would most definitely recommend this to any anime fan.. and anyone else for that matter. This should not be missed by anyone! It is simply astounding! I am already looking forward to watching it once more.

This little gem had three generations in tears on Christmas Day. Wonderful, moving film and a firm, fast favourite!

I'm so glad this film has finally made it on to DVD, its been quite a wait but worth it. A story about a girl who has the power of time at her finger tips. At first she enjoys it to begin with but then realises the dangers it can also bring. The animation in this film is so beautiful, Madhouse Studio's have done a fantastic job with the backgrounds and the movements of the characters especialy.
Mamoru Hosoda directed this film, and if anyone who knows his work, he also directed the Digimon Movies. To top the film off is the music, Kiyoshi Yoshida and it also well worth checking out. The voice work is spot on but I have only heard the Japanese dubbing so I can't comment on the English dub.
All in all this film is must seen to any anime fan out there, with a great story, great characters with stunning animation what more could you ask for.
