If you have got your mind right then buy this film it is one for watching over and over again..... and after what they are putting on tv lately this will always be one to watch......

what a film..paul newman is great.george kennedy just as great..i love the music in this film..what a film..5 stars

Paul newman gives his usual great performance as a member of a chain gang. This has many iconic scenes like the scene with the 50 eggs and the often imitated car wash scene or the famous line... what we've got here is a failure to communicate. George kennedy deserves his oscar as lukes friend in the prison dragline. A definate for any collector

Possibly Paul Newman's finest hour, but this is by no means a one-man show with great support from George Kennedy in a career-best performance, and a host of other faces that will have you saying 'isn't that ... ?' So many classic scenes, and some now not-so-subtle religious references. This is a great film. If you don't buy it then we really have had a failure to communicate.
