Everything you've heard is true.

Now prepare for a motion picture experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen, heard or feared before. The Blair Witch Project follows a trio of filmmakers on what should have been a simple walk in the woods, but quickly becomes an excursion into heart-stopping terror. As the three become inexplicably lost, morale deteriorates, hunger sets in, accusations fly. By night, unseen evil stirs beyond their campfire’s light. By day, chilling ritualistic figures are discovered nearby. As the end of their journey approaches, they realise that what they are filming now is not a legend, but their own descent into unimaginable horror.

 Truly terrifying

The Blair Witch Project (TBWP) reminds me a lot of Marmite - you either love it or you hate it. I am of the former category (although I'm not overly fond of Marmite....)
Three film students set out to make a film on a local urban legend, the Blair Witch. However, they manage to get themselves hopelessly lost in the woods and are never seen again. One year later, their tape is found. What it shows is a truly terrifying series of events that occurred in the woods on that fateful outing.
TBWP was made on a comparatively miniscule budget and it has an amateur feel to it, with the handheld camera and jerky movements throughout. This serves to reinforce the fact that the three youths were just film students out to make a scary documentary. And TBWP is really quite scary in parts; the night scene where they are lost in the middle of nowhere, huddled together in a tent, is particularly frightening. Especially when they begin to hear the laughter of children....
Opinion on TBWP is divided and I can understand why some people will take an instant dislike to this film. But I think it tackles fairly unoriginal subject matter in a highly original and gripping way. The result is a terrifying movie that will have you hiding behind a cushion all the way to the heart stopping finale. Highly recommended.

 A thinkers horror film.

I see the bad reviews for this film and I put it down to lazy viewing these days people want blood and gore and want everything laid out with jumps and chases. This film is scary because you never see anything. It's all about the viewers imagination. You make this film by wondering what it is that's out there. I suggest turning out the lights and putting it on really loud. It's scary to picture yourself in that situation, it's raw and real. I highly recommend it for those who like horror films that aren't about teenagers being torn apart by knives.

Original independant film making at it's finest of peaks.

Its not jumpy, there is no ghosts there is no brutal killings, infact you dont see anything at all, its all about your imagination and the unbelievably well filmed and acted script. When the movie was released people where leaving cinemas crying, and i remember coming home and sleeping with the lights on. This movie scarred me, its the after effects that count. Just give it a go and see what you think for a few quid can you really go wrong? Still to this day my favorite film, originality at its best!

the scarriest film ever to watch alone

despite not really seeing anaything , just hearing noises the film uses the most terryfiing thing of all to scare the daylights out of you and thats your own imagination, for me it is the most terryfing film ever made! just brilliant!

you have to imagine yourself in their position

i find people who dislike this film have no imagination. the person who wrote the review moaning that you dont see wot is in the woods has no imagination, your not supposed to see what it is thats the whole point of the film, its a psychological horror!!can you really imagine how rubbish it would have been if a little green witch had been seen floating by on her broomstick,it would have ruined the whole point of the film!to find this film terrifying(and it is)you have to put yourself in the position of the people in the woods and you have to let your imagination run wild.this film is so under rated and its because people with no imagination have slaughtered it,well ive got my own opinion, this is brilliant. the scene where the actors are huddled in the tent and they hear the children laughing and the cackling noises made my blood curdle. dont listen to people who tell you this is rubbish, watch it and decide for yourself.
